Purpose of Position: Electrician/Journeyman is responsible for performing duties related to the installation, alteration, repair, replacement and maintenance of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment. Must meet strict daily and weekly project deadlines. Performs tasks independently or as a team under limited supervision. Often supervises work performed by others. Reports to Electrician, Leadman, Foreman, or Superintendent as assigned. "Unqualified" workers and are prohibited from working on energized circuits or equipment or within the limited approach boundary in accordance with the NFPA 70-E current version. Education, Experience, and/or Prerequisites Required: 1. Must have five (5) or more years of previous electrical experience (industrial/commercial) 2. Must possess appropriate state driver's license if driving company vehicle 3. Must maintain Starr Electric minimum tool list 4. Must be able to arrive and depart to and from the jobsites (mode of transportation) 5. Pass all criminal record and drug testing requirements of the job 6. High School education, High School graduate, or GED or Vocational Background preferred 7. Complete on-the-job training, as required 8. In this role, you will demonstrate your expert knowledge of electrical systems and your outstanding problem-solving skills as you perform all necessary installations, maintenance, and repairs. Journeyman Electrician Duties and Responsibilities • specifications on blueprints/diagrams/technical drawings for installations • Conduct all repairs and installations according to code including load calculations • Be able to calculate electrical load requirements per code • Follow Utilize all safety equipment and follow all safety regulations and guidelines • Maintain a neat and organized work environment • Lead several fellow employees to complete required projects • Report any issues to management Journeyman Electrician Requirements and Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required, degree/diploma from trade school or community college preferred • State contractors license a plus • Valid driver’s license required • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening • Solid working knowledge of commercial and residential electrical systems • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a journeyman electrician • Extensive experience in both commercial and residential work is a plus • Able to read blueprints, technical drawings, and diagrams and follow specifications • Able to work independently and maintain accurate records • Take great pride in your work • Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude • Good communication and customer service skills
