Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Role Purpose Performs a variety of facility electrical duties and activities, including but not limited to electrical troubleshooting, component replacement, and general electrical maintenance activities. Will be involved in electrical project planning and resourcing for electrical reliability improvement/obsolescence projects. May lead and direct contract trades personnel in equipment installation, repairs, or upgrades. Key Responsibilities • Providing electrical / controls support to facilities equipment. • Performing troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems including but not limited to motors, starters, fans, pumps, UPS, VFDs, PLC controls, fire alarm systems, generators, breakers, and medium voltage power distribution equipment, up to 13.2K voltage levels. • Calibrating and troubleshooting digital and analog instrumentation. • Providing technical assistance to project teams. • Helping monitor and optimize facilities processes. Experiences/Education - Required • High School Diploma with a minimum of 3 years experience industrial electrical experience. • This position requires a strong electrical background. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints, block diagrams, piping diagrams, ladder logic, schematic diagrams, electrical power distribution diagrams, P&ID, loop sheets, and motor elementary drawings. • Successful completion of plant electrical assessment process. • Candidates must be willing to be on call every 4-6 weeks Experiences/Education - Desired • A two-year related technical degree with a minimum of eight years of electrical industrial experience but will consider degree with less experience. • Experience with Computer / PLC controls, HMI, & associated components. • Experience with alarm systems such as Simplex. • Experience with industrial systems such as air compressors, chillers, vacuum systems (operation or troubleshooting). • Root cause analysis techniques. • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others and participate in teams. • Electrical contractor's license, NFPA70e electrical safety certified, experience with wire pulling/conduit bending.
