Journeyman Electrician - Water Resource Recovery Facility

This position preforms skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, overhaul, repair, and testing of power generating and distribution equipment, standby and emergency power sources, and other electrical equipment found in wastewater collection and treatment facilities. Works with primary and secondary switch gears. Performs preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, maintains accurate and complete work records; troubleshoots problems as necessary. In addition, may perform a variety of general maintenance work of the plant and pumping stations; maintains a safe and clean work environment. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Required to be trained for work in confined spaces. Qualifications Ability to diagnose and repair problems with motor control centers, transformers, switchgear, and other electrical systems in use at a wastewater treatment plant. Operate a variety of instruments used to diagnose electric problems involving Voltmeter, ammeter, megger and instruct others in their proper use. Knowledge of basic and more complex electrical principles. Ability to read electrical blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Possession of a State of Michigan Journeyman or Master Electrical license required. Must possess a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license, with an excellent driving record. Ability to obtain a Michigan Class “D” Municipal Wastewater operator’s license within 2 years of eligibility.
