How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock: Your focus will be on maintaining equipment and ensuring it is operational through preventive maintenance while addressing mechanical and electrical failures in a dynamic environment. • Enforce plant safety regulations and promote a culture of safety among employees. • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, including motors, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, switches, and wiring. • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults in complex machinery such as corrugators, printing presses, die cutters, and material handling systems. • Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs). • Install and calibrate various sensors, transducers, and measuring instruments. • Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company standards for all electrical installations and repairs. • Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safety policies. • Maintain and repair high-voltage equipment and control systems. • Accurately document all maintenance work performed, parts used, and system details. • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new production equipment and control systems. • Collaborate with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic technicians to resolve operational issues. • Participate in root cause analysis of failures to implement corrective actions for improved machine reliability. • Support mechanical maintenance tasks as needed to ensure production uptime through predictive and preventative maintenance. What You Need to Succeed: • 3-5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a manufacturing setting (experience in corrugated, paper, or heavy industry is a significant advantage). • Proficient in working with 480V three-phase systems and various control voltages. • Experience with electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters, megohmmeters). • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams. • Aptitude for troubleshooting and programming PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). • Possess a Massachusetts Electrical license or equivalent certification. • Willingness to handle both mechanical and electrical projects. • Excellent safety awareness and a commitment to safe work practices. • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and perform emergency repairs under pressure. • Outstanding communication skills. • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree or technical certification is a plus. Physical Requirements: • Regularly stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. • Work in a loud, fast-paced industrial environment, which may involve exposure to heat, dust, and chemicals. • This position primarily operates on the first shift; however, flexibility for shifts, weekends, and on-call support is required. The starting pay range is $34-40 per hour based on experience. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Monday - Friday Full Time, 40 Hours per week First Shift, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM THE ROLE The purpose of this position is to perform electrical repairs, installation, and maintenance of the Department's traffic lights and highway illumination within District 2. Upon successful completion of a 2 year training period, the incumbent in this role will be evaluated and may be promoted to the target class of Qualified Craft Worker (Electrical). POSITION REQUIREMENTS Candidates must indicate they hold a current and valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tank endorsement in the 'Licenses and Professional Certifications' section of the application, or they will not be considered. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED Graduation from a vocational or technical school with a diploma designating completion of the subject requirements in one of the maintenance trades may be substituted for the General Experience. Successful completion of the Transportation Maintenance Registered Apprenticeship Program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience.
