Skills • Considerable knowledge of electrical tools, materials, and practices • Strong interpersonal skills • Proficient in oral and written communication • Ability to prepare estimates and maintain shop records • Some knowledge of computer software utilization Responsibilities • Perform skilled maintenance and construction work in the electrical trade • Install and repair electrical conduit, motors, controllers, and lighting systems • Maintain and repair HVAC systems and related equipment • Keep necessary records and estimates of time and materials • Respond to emergency situations at state-owned airports as needed Qualifications • Four (4) years of experience in the electrical trade • Two (2) years of skilled trade functions in the electrical area • Preference for candidates with a current E-1 License Education Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent • Graduation from a vocational or technical school in a maintenance trade area may substitute for two (2) years of experience Education Requirements Credential Category • Vocational or technical school diploma in a maintenance trade area Experience Requirements • Minimum of four (4) years of general experience in the electrical trade • At least two (2) years of specialized experience in the electrical area Why work in New Haven, CT New Haven is a vibrant city rich in arts and culture, offering a dynamic living environment. See More Details >>About the position Responsibilities • Perform highly skilled tasks in accordance with standard electrical trade practices and codes. • Lay out and install electrical conduit for power and lighting. • Make repairs to electrical motors, controllers, switchboard panels, traffic lights, and power circuits. • Install open and concealed wiring and lighting fixtures. • Maintain and repair unit heaters, fans, and building maintenance machines. • Repair relays and switches, rewire motors, and bend pipes. • Install, repair, and maintain oil burners and perform necessary safety testing of electrical equipment. • Keep necessary records and make estimates of time and materials for assigned tasks. • Diagnose failures and assist in high voltage work as needed. Requirements • Licensed Electrician with a CT E-2 license. • Four years of experience in tasks in the electrical trade. • Two years of skilled electrical trades experience. • Graduation from a vocational or technical school in a maintenance trade area may substitute for two years of general experience. Nice-to-haves • Possession of a valid Connecticut E-2 Unlimited Electric Journeyperson License.
