Electrical Inspector

Under the general direction of the Building Official or designee, performs on-site inspections of electrical installations, alterations and repairs to ensure conformity with the National Electrical Code and other related regulations; enforces compliance with electrical codes by contractors; does related work as required. • Performs related duties as required. • Inspects electrical installations and alterations to assure compliance with pertinent codes and regulations. • Discusses plans and problems with interested parties; assists, advises and offers recommendations to assure proper installations. • Reviews plans and specifications and conducts inspections of buildings and structures for which electrical permit applications have been made. • Issues permits. • Investigates possible code violations and enforces correction of defects. • Answers correspondence. • Keeps records and makes reports. • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. • Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials and practices of the electrical trade. • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code. • Working knowledge of the Connecticut Building Code and other related codes and regulations. • Ability to diagnose defects and hazards in new and existing electrical installations. • Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications. • Ability to prepare written reports. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, property owners and the general public. Graduation from an accredited high school and four (4) years of experience as a journeyman electrician. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: At time of application, must possess valid and current licenses as: 1) an Electrical Inspector, from the State of Connecticut Department of Public Safety. 2) an E-1 Unlimited Electrical Contractor, from the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection; and 3) a motor vehicle operator.

With a vision to lead mobility transformation, they are building a network of advanced electric vehicle charging stations designed to meet the growing demand for reliable, fast, and accessible energy solutions. Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support our client's DCFC (DC Fast Charging) infrastructure development team. This hybrid position requires someone who can independently design and layout commercial electrical projects from concept to completion. The successful candidate must be able to tackle complex design challenges, such as determining optimal placement of charging stations and transformers for a 4-station installation at a commercial mall, and translate project requirements into detailed electrical designs and CAD drawings. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Design & Engineering Layout • Design complete electrical systems and layouts for commercial DCFC installations • Determine optimal placement of charging equipment, transformers, switchgear, and supporting infrastructure • Create detailed electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and panel schedules • Perform electrical load calculations and power distribution design • Design conduit routing, cable tray layouts, and grounding systems CAD Design & Technical Documentation • Create detailed AutoCAD drawings and site plans for DCFC installations • Develop comprehensive electrical design packages including plans, elevations, and details • Prepare technical documentation for permit applications and utility submissions • Review and modify existing designs based on field conditions and client requirements Commercial Project Design Experience • Design electrical systems for commercial and industrial installations • Navigate complex commercial electrical requirements and building codes • Coordinate electrical designs with architectural and civil engineering plans • Ensure designs meet commercial electrical standards and safety requirements Utility Coordination & Compliance • Interface with local utilities to understand connection requirements and specifications • Prepare utility applications and coordinate interconnection processes • Ensure designs meet local utility standards and regulatory requirements • Navigate utility approval processes and address technical feedback Project Support & Collaboration • Work closely with the construction manager to provide technical guidance during installation • Support field teams with design modifications and problem-solving • Coordinate with project managers to ensure design deliverables meet project timelines • Participate in project planning and coordination meetings Required: • 3+ years of electrical design CAD experience with AutoCAD • Engineering design layout experience for commercial electrical projects • Proven ability to design electrical systems from concept through completion • Experience with electrical load calculations, power distribution, and transformer sizing • Knowledge of electrical codes (NEC, local codes) and commercial electrical standards • Understanding of utility coordination and interconnection processes • Strong problem-solving skills for complex electrical design challenges • Excellent communication skills for coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders • Engineering degree or technical certification in electrical engineering/design Preferred: • Experience with DCFC (DC Fast Charging) site design and EV infrastructure • Solar, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), UPS, substation or other related electrical design experience • Experience working with utilities on commercial electrical projects • Knowledge of project management software (ProCore, Salesforce) • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in the Stamford, CT office and 2 days remote work.
