Position: Electrician Department: Facilities/Operations Supervisor: Facilities Manager Description: Full time – 12 Months Benefits Eligible Union Status: Non-Collective Bargaining (non-union) SCOPE OF DUTIES Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, is responsible for assessing and maintaining electrical components. The Electrician will be expected to identify any current concerns/issues and implement corrective actions in accordance with the safety standards and regulations of the National Electrical Code. PRIMARY DUTIES • Ability to look at electrical blueprints and scan them for issues/concerns. • Ability to assess electrical grids and evaluate them for any problems to ensure correct installation. • Ability to identify issues and make corrective measures to fix problems with electrical components. • Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels). • Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits, etc. • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units. • Ability to utilize testing devices to identify and report electrical problems. • Monthly inspections of Building Electrical Systems including Emergency, exit lighting and Gfi receptacles. • On-call during heating season and on a rotating schedule with co-workers. • Works with outside vendors on system repairs and servicing. • Assists with preventative maintenance to include a system of overview. • Work with Facilities Manager to develop and maintain a provider maintenance plan • Assists with weather emergencies. • Comply with all safety standards and regulations of the National Electrical Code. • Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Ability to utilize good judgement • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors as well as to work independently. • Ability to assess a situation and recognize when the Facilities Manager needs to be involved. • Ability to use hand tools and power equipment. • Excellent organizational and time management skills. • Must be a Connecticut State Licensed Electrician; E1 license preferred; E2 considered. • Must have a minimum of 5 years of licensed experience. • Must have experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems. • Must have working knowledge of installing/maintaining electrical systems. • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull and move moderately heavy objects. • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders. • Must have a valid CT Driver’s License. Preferred Qualifications: • Minimum 4 years of experience in distribution planning, distribution modeling, distribution coordination, distribution line design. • Experience performing structural analysis, plan and profile preparation, line optimization, preparing specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents required for overhead and underground line projects. • Experience using PLS-CADD and other design software • Minimum 4 years of experience performing aspects associated with overhead and underground electrical distribution system analysis and design, lighting design, distribution field staking, joint-use field review and design, and knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
