Manager-Electric Service

Role and Scope of Position: This position is jointly accountable, with other Electric Operations Managers, for providing safe, reliable and cost-effective electric service to customers. This position is primarily responsible for coordinating work performed on the electric system and response to customer outage. This position oversees a highly skilled system operations and troubleshooting personnel at energy management/service centers on a 24 hour, 7-day per week basis. This position also requires frequent off-hour interactions with staff and other stakeholders. This position can be based out of any CT area work center. Essential Functions: Assists with the establishment of, and monitors, goals, policies, plans, standards, performance objectives and budget for the Electric Service process. Analyzes and recommends resource levels to plan, develop and implement policies and practices. Monitors operating and financial objectives and ensures alignment with organization and corporate goals. Develops dispatch/trouble staff. Implements programs to ensure employees possess technical and behavioral skills required to support operating plans. Manages, selects, coaches and develops staff. Coordinates the restoration efforts in collaboration with Electric Operations' areas in the Operations in the development and implementation of best practices to achieve efficient and effective transmission and distribution system operations and dispatch. Assists in the planning and implementation of technological enhancements for the Energy Management Centers. Monitors system conditions and loading, pool coordination, safety clearance support, event notification and reporting and coordination of activities in support of the Operations and Restoration processes. Communicates with customers, communities, executives and other stakeholders in regards to system conditions and restoration efforts. Manages the System Emergency Preparedness activities jointly with other Electric Operations managers, including operating, tagging and work practices and standards. Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/ Licenses/Certifications: Technical Knowledge/Skill: Requires a comprehensive understanding of the Company's transmission and distribution network. Education: Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience. MS in Engineering or MBA preferred. Experience: Ten (10) to twelve (12) years managing or supervising groups engaged in transmission/distribution or related activities. Demonstrated experience in working and communicating across functional boundaries, developing a union workforce and process management. Licenses & Certifications: None Working Conditions: Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required. Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary. Work is conducted outside, in varied conditions and terrain including adverse weather conditions, and in a normal office environment which requires sitting, walking, standing, stair climbing and completion of paperwork. Drives to various job site locations and customer premises to supervise work, and review or discuss construction job requirements. May work with computers for long periods of time during the day. Off-hour on-call responsibility is required on a rotational basis. At times requires working long hours in response to outage situations and shift coverage requirements.
