Electrical Technician

Basic FunctionHF Sinclair in Anacortes, WA is seeking a Journeyman Level Electrical Technician. This position's primary duties include troubleshooting, testing, repairing of existing Electrical systems.Job Duties Follow NFPA 70E safe work practices and the NEC while working on electrical systems. Troubleshoot and maintain low/medium volt motor control systems. Employ knowledge of applicable electrical standards and codes in carrying out work assignment. Basic understanding of electrical utilization equipment installations and preventative maintenance practices for low and medium voltage systems. Read and comprehend instrument and electrical drawings including one & three-line drawings to troubleshoot and repair systems. Test, maintain and document Safety shut down systems. Perform all job tasks with safety and respect for the environment as the number one priority. Perform job tasks in a motivated, self-directed fashion independently or as part of a team. Have a basic understanding of PLC hardware and ladder logic to troubleshoot systems. Communicate to operations, and supervision verbally and in writing details regarding job tasks. Troubleshoot, repair, install, and calibrate, electro-mechanical, electronic flow, pressure, level and temperature field instrumentation. Be willing to train other personnel in any electrical functions. Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.ExperienceFive (5) years of verifiable industrial electrician experience.Education LevelHigh school diploma or GED and a minimum of Washington State 01 Electrical Journeymen's License or an equivalent combination of education and work experience, is required.Required SkillsWillingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. Willingness to work at heights, walk on high elevation grating and to walk up and down stairs. Willingness to work in confined spaces. Must be able to speak, read and write English. Reside within 60 miles of the site or relocate without assistance to within 60 miles. Willingness to work outside in inclement weather. Must be willing to use safe lifting techniques to lift 50 pounds from the ground to waist level. Must be comfortable using computers in a work environment. Willingness to support HF Sinclair's policy of a drug-free work environment.Work ConditionsField based. Petroleum refinery, out-of-doors environment, and driver-based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, and working in confined spaces. The majority of Electrical Engineering co-ops and interns enter into the following positions: Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Project Engineers work on a variety of real-world electrical and instrumentation projects in a refinery setting. During your time at MPC, you will develop and utilize project management skills including scope alignment, cost and schedule development, and teamwork through multiple engineering phases. Reliability Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineers troubleshoot Electrical & Instrumentation issues at the refinery. There will be opportunities to use electrical analysis software to solve coordination issues and run Arc Flash studies for the power system, as well as learning and understanding about how our critical Refinery Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) are applied. Process Control / Technical Service Engineers can work on a wide array of projects in support of the process control systems installed throughout the refinery and products movements areas. The process control systems in the refinery provide real-time control and data acquisition functions in support of operating the refinery process and electrical equipment.
