We provide services for recreational, government, commercial fishing, and commercial vessels. Role Description The Marine Electrician Department Head will perform the basic duties of a Marine Electrician which consist of troubleshooting advanced electrical systems, testing equipment, planning, installing, and repairing wiring, fixtures, and electrical equipment aboard vessels, along with the duties of managing the electrical department. Duties and Major Responsibilities: · Advanced knowledge of Marine Electrical Systems · Troubleshooting electrical equipment and provide plans for system installations · Use of test equipment · Blueprint reading and advanced layout · Grounding and bonding · Installation of electrical wiring and fixtures · Outfit and lay out wire ways, install cable trays and install hangers. · Maintain, repair, test and install electrical controls and components involved with various main propulsion units · Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical controls · Knowledge of shipyard safety practices and vessel terminology · Ability to work in and navigate confined spaces, and indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to changing weather conditions · Maintain a positive attitude at all times · Manage all department employees · Update & Schedule projects from start to finish · Help oversee subcontractors · Assist with bid preparation & review · Ensure general cleanliness of job site · Maintain responsibility for the overall care of work areas · Review spreadsheets daily & supply input · Maintain professionalism toward workers, subcontractors & clients · Follow guidelines for the mandatory use of timecards & sign-in sheets · Abide by all company policies in company handbook & any additions · Resolve problems in a timely & positive manner · Appear on time to meetings · Remain flexible with regard to working hours · Practice appropriate time management · Maintain quality control – every project · Have project related materials available when needed & onsite · Be involved with every department · Oversee the training of department employees · Manage all department employee reviews, hiring & discipline issues · Supervise the use of department equipment & tools · Setup procedures · Understand what the project manager is expecting to complete the project · Write the project process procedures Education & Experience: · Marine Experience (Minimum 2 Years) Required · Electrical Experience (Minimum 4 Years) Required · Management Experience (Minimum 2 Years) Preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: · ABYC (Preferred)
