Typical Duties: • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures and help to implement safe work procedures and correct unsafe work activities and notify supervisors of any unsafe activities • Be proficient in understanding and reading construction documents, plans and specifications. • Proficient in coordinating electrical installation • Proficient with the National Electric Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Administration (NFPA) codes and regulations pertaining to electrical installation • Keep accurate log of daily work activities • Willingness to follow direction from supervisors • Willingness to accept additional training as required by the company such as safety (OSHA), forklift operation etc. • Notify foreman/superintendent of material needed or if material stock piles are running low • Be able to work with other journeyman electricians and apprentices • Be able to work well with others and other trades • Knowledge of and proficient in the operation of standard electrical tools and equipment such as: conduit threaders, benders, hole punch, ohm meter, volt meter, power tools and hand tools • Knowledge of and proficient in the operation of standard construction equipment such as: forklifts, trenchers, compactors, cable pullers/tuggers etc. • Ability to perform: routine and repetitive tasks, work easily and skillfully with hands, climb and maintain balance on scaffolds or ladders. See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors; Reach for, handle, and grasp wires and hand tools; Bend, crouch, and work in small places; and lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, bending, standing crouching, climbing and walking. • Large commercial and or industrial electrical experience • Experience in underground distribution installation, rigid conduit installation, and electrical distribution equipment installation including Main Distribution Panels, Motor Control Centers and Transformers. • Experience in duct bank installation. • Medium Voltage experience pulling cable and fire taping. • Control wiring • Hazardous location electrical experience preferred. • Medium and High Voltage experience welcome. • Fire Alarm and Electrical Control experience welcome. • Washington State Licensed 01 journeyman. • Current OSHA 30 or OSHA 10 card preferred. • Willingness to travel preferred Salary: Prevailing wage rate plus fringe benefit rate. GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs electrical work on U.S. Navy shore facilities, waterborne vessels, surface ships and/or submarines. Tasks will be related to inspections, repairs, modernization and/or alterations. POSITION LOCATION: Bremerton, WA DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. • Performs troubleshooting and/or testing of various electrical, systems, circuits, controls, instruments and equipment, onboard military shore facilities, Navy ships/vessels to include submarines and/or ship’s components and documents test requirements. • Conducts voltage and other electrical safety checks. • Performs connections/hook-ups to panels, switches, and boxes. • Assists with cleaning up work area (removing debris from work area). • Employees may be required to travel for work to other locations REQUIREMENTS: • 1-4 years of experience in shipboard electrical installations; or completion of a formal related course of study through either a community college, technical or trade school, military training, formal company training program or an apprenticeship program. • Basic experience with Voltmeters, Ammeters, Ohmmeters, Megohmmeters, (ET1 only) Light Loss meters, (ET1 only) Optical Time Delay Reflectometers (OTDRs); and general hand tools, such as screwdrivers, wire strippers, crimp tools, wrenches, knives, pliers, drills, and saws. • Able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, written technical instructions and manuals. • Able to read and understand material safety data sheets (SDS). • Perform basic troubleshooting and/or testing of various electrical, systems, circuits, controls, instruments and equipment. • Basic understanding of electrical theory. • Able to correctly wire simple devices, such as power/lighting panels, power/lighting distribution boxes, small terminal boxes, outlet receptacles, etc., with minimal supervision. • Graduate of a NAVSEA approved Cableway Installation and Inspection course. • (ET1 only) Full competency in Navy shipboard fiber optic methods and is currently, or has previously been, certified under NAVSEA Drawing 8477552B, which meets the requirements of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-123 and MIL-STD-1678. • Must be able to perform work autonomously, with minimal guidance, and have an expectation to assist other job requirements beyond the role of E1/ET1. • Must be prepared to perform an unassisted thorough practical demonstration of skills that may include tool and part identification, mock assembly and testing.
