Electrician Full-Time / Permanent We are recruiting to fill one (1) full-time permanent Electrician position within the Capital and Asset Management Program located at the Lacey Construction Shop, 6420 Carpenter Road SE, Lacey, Thurston County, Washington. The primary role of the Electrician is to perform journey level work installing, maintaining and repairing low voltage electrical equipment and systems of 600 volts or less at agency owned and co-managed facilities statewide. The Electrician will install modify, maintain and repair interior and exterior wiring and cables, connections for electric machines, switches and controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, distribution and instrument panels, buzzers and bell circuits; install, modify, maintain, adjust and repair electric motors and associated equipment, instruments, controllers, and generators. The incumbent in this position will also inspect electric systems and equipment to identify failures or loss of efficiency, including detecting and correcting faulty or worn parts. Management reserves the right to make a hiring decision at any time. Electrical Work • Independently functions as a fully qualified electrician to perform skilled installation, maintenance, and repair work on low voltage electrical equipment and systems of 600 volts or less. • Install, modify, maintain and repair interior wiring and cables, connections for electric machines, switches and controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, distribution and instrument panels, buzzer and bell circuits and hearing and power circuits. • Install, adjust, maintain, modify and repair electric motors, equipment, and instruments such as pumps (up to 300 hp), fans, metering devices, power tools, motors and generators. • Inspect electric systems and equipment to detect and correct faulty or worn parts. • Inspect electrical systems; checks wires, poles and transformers and keep lines cleared of tree limbs and brush. • Use electrical test equipment including Volt-ohm meter, megger, phase rotation meter, and ammeter. • Use pipe benders and threaders, sawzall and band saw, drill motors, impact drives, rotohammers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, hammer, hacksaw, knockout punch, and runs platform, scissor and telescopic lifts and mini excavators. • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, construction drawings, control logic diagrams, one-line diagrams, and specifications. • Inspect maintenance and installation projects to ensure compliance with local codes, determine scope of work, materials needed and their cost and availability. • Schedule and coordinate dates for arrival or supplies and equipment. • Prepare reports and cost estimates and schedule maintenance. • Maintain and submit testing records to supervisor. Preventative Maintenance • Perform alterations and repairs of electrical systems. • Perform electrical testing including voltage, amperage and meg-ohm for assessing electrical efficiency and motor degradation. Project Lead • Schedule, direct, coordinate and lead maintenance crew in the various phases of electrical work, either new construction or facility maintenance. • Prepare cost tracking reports, develops a schedule of maintenance activities based on work orders received from our customers, and determine materials, equipment and manpower needs for each assignment. • Develop cost estimates of labor and materials needed for building maintenance, alteration, or remodeling projects. Miscellaneous • Participates in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions. • Prepares bi-weekly timesheets and activity logs detailing activities performed during those periods. • Other duties as assigned. Ability to: work from blueprints, plans, and sketches; estimate materials and time needed to complete jobs; use hand and power tools; troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair simple limited energy systems; such as: alarms, communications, and sensor loops. Preferred/Desired Qualifications: • Experience and knowledge of water distribution and pumping systems/principals • Class A CDL • Valid First Aid and CPR certification • Experience and knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers Travel and Covered Expenses Because this position primarily supports our statewide hatcheries and wildlife management areas, the ability to travel will be a critical need of the selected candidate. WDFW will provide transportation to and from each work site, pays the cost of lodging, and provides per diem (rates calculated by General Services Administration). In addition to travel related costs, WDFW supplies all tools and equipment and offers a $125 boot allowance towards the purchase of ANSI rated construction footwear relating to the electrical field.
