Electrician - Industrial

Currently, we are seeking a qualified Industrial Electrician to perform building and maintenance electrical work at our sawmill in Shelton, Washington. The Industrial Electrician will perform all regular electrician duties at a high level of competence and will additionally perform hands-on programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced control systems. About the Position • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in manufacturing facility • Maintain all components required to control machinery, including switches, sensors, programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, and operate interface units • Recognize and effectively identify hazards and correct electrical defects • Perform preventative maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment • Inspect and maintain motors, switches, junction boxes, switch panels, circuit breakers, transformers, fuse panels, and lighting • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical installations • Install electrical conduit and pull wire • Maintain efficiency and safety of all plant electrical circuits, assembles, and equipment • Troubleshoot and install encoders, linear transducers, vision systems, and other advanced sensors • Identify and help implement process improvements to optimize performance and production • Effectively troubleshoot issues for best resolution while staying calm in stressful situations • Communicate effectively, comprehend, and follow complicated verbal and written instructions • Perform general maintenance in a safe and efficient manner and maintain a clean work area • Work may consist of overtime during busy production times Qualifications • 2 years' recent verifiable related work history or equivalent education • Understanding of industrial electrical safety, MCCs, three-phase power, running conduit, lighting, electrical, and hydraulic systems required • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers and their programming, preferable • Read and understand blueprints and circuit diagrams Why Join Our Team? Relay Technician

About the position The Relay Technician position at Mason PUD 3 involves the construction, maintenance, and repair of substation equipment and related systems. The role requires a strong focus on customer service and technical expertise in electrical systems, particularly in relay and control devices. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, testing, and ensuring the integrity of electrical operations within substations, while also providing technical training to utility personnel. Responsibilities • Installs or modifies control settings with computer software or manual adjustment to relays and regulator control panels. , • Connects test apparatus for performance tests or troubleshooting troubled relay circuits. , • Analyzes test results and interprets electrical diagrams to locate defective relay control devices. , • Opens and closes switches to isolate defective relay and makes adjustments or removes relay for repair. , • Tests circuit and equipment to evaluate settings, timing functions, I/O functions, communication, and other factors affecting relay function. , • Analyzes test data to determine performance characteristics of relays and the effect of system modifications on relay performance. , • Prepares reports of work performed on relays. , • Constructs and maintains substation steel structures, foundations, bus structures, and busses. , • Installs and maintains electrical equipment used in the operation of stations including switchboards, relays, and recloser control panels. , • Performs a variety of tests related to the maintenance and repair of substation functions and associated electrical transmission and distribution systems. , • Performs final in-service tests after equipment energization, ensuring proper equipment operation and system integrity. , • Prepares and maintains testing and repair reports and records as required. , • Performs substation switching and related activities as required. , • Wires, programs, installs, and removes substation meters as required. , • Backs up and assists transformer shop mechanic with equipment prep and painting, transformer testing, and spill cleanup. , • Troubleshoots and maintains relay and control wiring. , • Inspects and maintains regulators, reclosers, sectionalizers, and related equipment. , • Inspects PUD substations as required, including preparation of monthly substation inspection reports. , • Presents technical training related to substations for utility personnel as required. Requirements • Journeyman Wireman status recognized by the district and the I.B.E.W. , • Successfully completed relay technician training. , • Extensive knowledge of electrical maintenance, construction practices, standards, and electrical theory as applied to transmission and distribution systems. , • Ability to read, interpret, revise, and work from blueprints, system maps, work sketches, relay, and circuit diagrams. , • Demonstrative ability to problem solve and follow and understand oral and written instructions with little or no supervision. , • Working knowledge of Washington State Electrical Workers Safety Rules and Regulations. , • Valid Washington State Class 'A' commercial driver's license and a good driving record. , • Valid First Aid/ CPR card.
