The worker must be able to perform work based on self-abilities and upon completion must be acceptable in materials, workmanship, and appearance. The work must be of a technical nature and could require inspection and passing of building code law. The employee will perform skilled carpentry work and provide leadership to others in the department in the repair, alteration and construction of wooden, metal and masonry structures. The employee must also exercise independent judgment and initiative in performing assigned duties. The Carpenter Crew Leader reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Determines type and amount of materials needed. Provides assistance in planning and designing work necessary for construction and renovation projects. Makes and repairs cabinets & repairs furniture. Replaces floor tile Moves or makes alterations to walls. Cleans and maintains equipment, tools and supplies. Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as carpentry equipment. Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape. Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract, multiply and divide, and to apply the theories of geometry. Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials and equipment employed in carpentry work. Additional job Functions or Assigned Tasks: Performs other related work as required. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Minimum Training and Experience: Completion of High School. Completion of course or workshops in the carpentry or related trades Five years of experience in the Carpentry trade. Hold a valid NC driver's license. Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential job Functions: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including table saws, drills, hammers, saws, planers, and tape measures. Requires the ability to climb and maneuver on ladders, scaffolding, and/or tight spaces. Perform heavy lifting of materials and equipment. Other Requirements: Must maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual. Perform work based on self-abilities and upon completion, be acceptable in materials, workmanship, and appearance. Work should be of a technical nature and could require inspection and passing of building code laws.
