PRIMARY FUNCTION: Smoothens and finishes surfaces of poured concrete foundations, floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs to specified textures, using hand tools or power tools, including floats, trowels, and screeds. TYPICAL DUTIES: • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its Core Values. • Represent the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. • Spreads concrete to specified depth and workable consistency using float to bring water to surface and produce soft topping. • Levels, smoothens and shapes of freshly poured concrete using straight edge and float or power speed. • Finishes concrete surfaces using power trowel or wets and rubs concrete surfaces using grinder or chisel and hammer and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound. • Molds expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers and straight edge. • May produce rough concrete surface using broom. • May mix concrete using hoe or concrete mixing machine. • May direct sub-grade work, mixing of concrete and setting of forms. • Must have rod busting/rebar experience. • Able to work from drawings and blueprints. • Prepare layout, using rule, squares, and calipers. • Build forms and install reinforcing rods and anchor bolts for concrete foundations. • Verify trueness of structures • Identify safety hazards you and other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards. • Work well with supervision. • Properly perform work as directed. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Concrete Finisher in refinery, chemical, petrochemical, or similar plant construction or maintenance. Knowledge of carpentry tools. Experience in building forms for pours and preps, pours, and finishes concrete. Must be able to pass Craft proficiency testing at or above 70%. Complete Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within the approved drug testing program. Must pass background check. Caton Construction Group is growing! Currently seeking a Bridge Foreman for our bridge construction project in Wake County, North Carolina. Starting pay is negotiable and based on skills and experience. The Bridge Foreman is responsible for providing direct in-field supervision of a bridge & structures crew working on all phases of a heavy highway/civil concrete or steel structure and/or various other related construction projects; maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under their direction and control. The Bridge Foreman is the front-line safety officer for the site/project and is directly responsible for the safety of their crew. This position will work closely with the Superintendent to ensure quality and workmanship meet the Company's standards.
