Skilled Carpenter

Skilled Carpenter (able to handle pick up and delivery of materials) – Residential Remodeling - Raleigh, NC An awarding winning design/build general contractor specializing in residential and light commercial remodeling, is seeking a talented and bright Full-Time Skilled Carpenter who would be entrusted to use a company vehicle to handle pick up and delivery logistics for projects. This company has been in business since 1994 and is looking for an individual with strong organization and communication skills, a solid understanding of rough and finish carpentry methods and techniques, refined carpentry skills, and the ability to interact professionally with trade contractors and clients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Handles pickup and delivery logistics for construction/job materials. · Able to perform carpentry at the highest level with minimal direct supervision. · Understand and interpret blueprint drawings and written specifications. · Understand work orders, change orders, and all other carpentry related job documents. · Know and understand building codes and implement the codes in all work taken on. · Perform demo, rough, and finish carpentry to company’s standard of quality and according to the plans and specifications. · Bring discrepancies and special conditions to the attention of the Project Manager for discussion. If situation cannot be resolved, notify Sales Staff and President. · Able to lay out and install stud wall framing. · Able to lay out and install stairs for a basement or deck using a framing square. · Able to establish grades for proper drainage of flatwork and simple structures. · Able to use a transit level to establish grades and elevations. · Able to install standard wall-hung cabinetry and accessories. · Able to install pre-hung door units and windows. · Able to install interior trim, base, casing, crown molding, etc. with superior craftsmanship. · Able to install drywall and able to properly tape drywall sheathing. · Able to do simple repairs in painting/staining, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and flooring. · Ensure jobsite safety, protection, and maintenance of company tools. · Other duties as assigned. Qualifications · Minimum four (4) years of carpentry experience. · Complete command of rough and finish carpentry skills. · Ability to perform work according to quality standards. · Understand construction software (i.e., CoConstruction/Buildertrend) a plus. Desire and ability to learn a must. · Good communication skills. · Ability to read and understand construction documents. · Neat appearance. · Reliable vehicle. · Able to work 40 hours per week (typically 4 days a week/Mon-Thurs / 7:30am – 5:30pm). · Ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis. · Valid North Carolina driver’s license and good driving record. · Tools required (minimum): o Basic hand tools such as hammer, tape measure, speed square, nail apron, etc. o Circular saw, saber saw, miter saw, reciprocating saw, drills, sanders, sawhorses, grounded extension cords, 2 ½ & 4’ levels, hand saws, squares, layout tools, stapler, compressor, hoses, portable table saw, nail guns.
