About the position We are currently looking for a Welder Operator to join our team in Big Rapids. The Welder Operator sets up and operates machine/equipment to produce quality parts per blueprints, product orders, and engineering specifications, within tolerance. Proficiently performs weld parameter adjustments, operator preventive maintenance (PM), and troubleshoots MIG weld and spot weld equipment. Responsibilities • Sets up, maintains, and operates machine/equipment per production orders and engineering specifications to produce quality parts/materials. , • References production orders to determine sizes, types, and quantities of product to be produced. , • Frequently loads, unloads, and/or positions materials/parts, weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally more. , • Monitors program(s), machine(s) and equipment to avoid damage and informs supervisor of any major mechanical problems. , • Ensures optimum operations by cleaning equipment and replacing worn bits and accessories as needed. , • Performs first-piece inspection and other required quality checks, utilizing precision measuring instruments. , • Documents product non-conformance and reports to designated area personnel. , • Verifies 'Quantity of Parts - Completed' is correct on production order request before parts leave department. , • Reports potential machine or area hazards to Supervisor. , • Maintains safety and cleanliness of work area by performing various housekeeping duties. , • Performs and/or cross-trains on other job functions and/or duties as required. , • Completes appropriate paperwork. , • Meets daily production requirements. Requirements • Tenth grade education or equivalent. , • Up to six months training required. , • Two years production experience required, including six months related welding experience.
