Welders are called to use specialized equipment to weld and assemble new metal forms. Welder/Fabricator

As a world-class supplier of wheeled and tactical vehicle armor and commercial metal solutions, Plasan North America manufactures the armor that protects our troops. We are currently seeking highly skilled Welders/Fabricators with expertise in GMAW-P (Gas Metal Arc Welding – Pulsed) to join our dynamic team. This isn't your average welding job - our Welders are responsible for joining heavy steel components using GMAW/GMAW-P welding processes with ER307 stainless steel filler material. This position requires an experienced welder with in-depth knowledge of welding techniques, high-quality standards, an emphasis on safety, and the ability to coach others on welding techniques. The ideal candidate will be able to meet first-pass quality inspection requirements on demanding projects that require the highest level of welding expertise, including working with armored steel used in defense, transportation, and security industries. Applicants must pass a 2G plate test (GMAW) to confirm skill level and corresponding pay rate. We have openings on first and second shift. Our regular work hours are four ten-hour shifts Monday - Thursday (First shift works 5am to 3pm, second shift works 3:15pm to 1:15am), however, we are working on Fridays and some Saturdays currently. POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Required Tasks) • Apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate or repair parts of steel or other weldable materials according to SOPs • Lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates • Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools • Inspect completed work for conformance to specification • Understand weld symbols and measurements • Learn NCR and First Article Inspection process • Maintain productivity of 80-90% on average • Keep personal protective equipment (PPE) up to date • Participate in Safety and 5S activities • All other duties as assigned SKILL SET (Required Skills) • 4+ years’ experience using GMAW process welding 46100 (HH) materials in 2G and 3G positions • AWS D1.1 certification preferred • Able to tack weld carbon steel, HH and UHH materials • Able to weld 46100 (HH) materials per WPS without supervision • Able to weld non-ballistic carbon steel parts • Able to apply advanced skills to the position/specialization • Fluent blueprint reading, ability to create fixtures • Able to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position • Able to act as a coach to fellow teammates assisting them with on-the-job training and mentoring • Basic computer skills necessary to train to ERP system responsibilities for basic functions • Understanding of Payroll system and policies including attendance (log in/ out procedures, transferring jobs, verifying hours worked, PTO time available, etc.) • Comprehension of SOP’s/Quality Standards and the responsibilities involved with each PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
