Job title: Fabricator/Welder Reports to: Foreman Supervisory responsibilities: n/a Summary/objective: Specialty Tooling Systems (STS) is looking to add a Fabricator to their team! Under general supervision with minimal to no assistance, you will perform a variety of fabrication duties. This position requires a thorough knowledge of fabrication practices and procedures. Essential functions: • Comprehend and follow blueprints in accordance with required specifications • Working from blueprint, sketches or written or verbal instructions, plan and layout raw material, plates, angles, channels castings, tubing, pipe, etc. in accordance with specifications where close tolerance (+ or -") is required • Clean parts as instructed, i.e. hand grind, wire brush • Perform minor adjustments to machines as needed • Use mathematical formulas (algebra, geometry, trigonometry) and equipment such as sales, squares, calipers, micrometers, etc. to: verify templates and work, layout machining locations, center angles and contours, and layout development liner on complicated intersections • Must be able to use precision instruments for use in measurements • Train other fabricators as necessary • Perform rigging, lifting and moving of product using cranes, forklifts, etc. • Comprehend and follow ISO procedures to ensure compliance with the standard • Must know, understand, and abide by all plant safety rules and regulation • Must be able to operate an assortment of fabrication machinery or equipment, i.e. shears, nibblers, press brakes, punch presses, roll formers, benders, drills etc. Required competency, education, and experience: • Must have at least 4 years of fabrication experience • High school diploma or GED • Must be able to use a computer to read and understand prints • Must be able to understand how parts move while welding • Must be motivated and work well by yourself and as a team • Must have willingness to be trained Work environment: Manufacturing environment. Physical demands: • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. on a regular basis • Must be able to stand for long periods of time on cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat, climb ladders and perform work in confined positions.
