What you'll do: • Assume responsibility for the welding part of the manufacturing process. • Follow all applicable in-house, industry, and regulatory health and safety guidelines. • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications as directed. • Operate MIG welder, grinder, reciprocating saw and cut-off wheel. • Ability to bend and shape pipes of various materials and sizes with precision. • Knowledge in pipe fitting and welding techniques. • Troubleshoot mechanical issues on equipment as needed. • Maintain and grow professional and technical knowledge. What you’ll need: • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices. • Ability to communicate effectively via written and verbal methods. • Hands on welding experience, ideally in the automotive or manufacturing fields. • Understanding of functionality and mechanics of a vehicle’s rear suspension. • Knowledge of welding machine operation, regulating current, and voltage for the proper fusion of metals. • Must be proficient with analyzing and fabricating from drawings, schematics and sketches. • Mechanically inclined and understand vehicle mechanics and body work. • Maintain an organized and orderly work area. • Ability to troubleshoot issues and problem-solve as needed. • Pre-inspection of parts, ability to use hand and power tools, attention to quality with minimal errors. Role Summary: Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, the Welder II is responsible for supporting the materials management function of the fabrication department. Welders are essential to the overall operation of the business. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the current workload, a Welders main responsibility is welding, cutting, threading, grooving, testing, and bundling pipe and fittings to meet customer’s specifications. Exciting work you will do: The essential duties and responsibilities of the Welder II position will consist of, but are not limited to performing all the functions of a Welder and the following: • Programming, set-up and running of various welding machines • Complex welding of flanged headers, spool pieces, and occasional butt welds • Operation of robotic welders and setting up weld/cut parameters • Complex measurements, including angles, and reading/reproducing images from diagrams • Interpret welding procedure specifications • Manufacture product that meets customer requirements and expectations. Inspect and verify work before submitting for inspection • Work as a team member to aid others in encouraging and maintaining departmental standards including quality and on-time delivery goals • Record and track daily operations • Product quality testing through pressure and/or chemical testing • Painting product • Sandblasting if required by location • Material layout by customer measurements/specifications • Read job prints • Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards • Must learn how to operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, crane, etc. • Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of the shop • Check assigned equipment for proper operation/functionality and communicate problems to Warehouse Manager • Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures • Participate in safety initiatives as assigned • Safely operate additional warehouse equipment • Attend meetings and training sessions • Other welding/fabrication tasks as assigned Competencies you possess: • Service Excellence • Results, Action Oriented • Accountability and Responsibility • Teamwork and collaboration • Safety Conscious • Ability to multi-task • Ability to train others What you’ll need: • Work Experience: 4 years of welding experience • Education: High School Diploma or GED • Analytics/Computer Skills: Ability to use standard office equipment, including but not limited to computerized bar code scanner, printer, and standard warehouse equipment/tools/machines/vehicles. Basic math and reasoning skills. • Organization Skills: Excellent work ethic, good verbal, and communication skills. Ability to work independently. • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and through the direction of a Fabrication Manager • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization. Know when to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects. • Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
