Mechanical Engineer

Your role in this process will include the review and approval of various design documents including 3D system models, 2D manufacturing drawings, technical reports, and design calculations. The Mechanical Engineer will work with project managers, electrical engineers, chemical engineers, and senior mechanical engineers to develop creative solutions to solve problems in the water treatment industry. The role is envisioned for someone entry level to 5 years of experience. Job Responsibilities/Duties • Work closely with the design team, customer, subcontractors and Project Manager to resolve technical issues and move the design process along efficiently, helping minimize scope creep. • Produce conceptual designs from client specifications and develop both basic and detailed engineering documentation. • Perform and document design calculations to ensure design is compliant with client specifications and applicable codes and standards. • Assist with the preparation of scope, cost, and schedules for future project/tasks. • Work closely with suppliers, vendors, and technical representatives for specification of various mechanical systems and components to support overall project design. • Ensure compliance of various design documents with AVANTech Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) program. • Interact with manufacturing team members to optimize mechanical design. Manufacturing team members can include welders, pipe fitters, painters, operators, and quality assurance personnel. • Possess the ability to implement various design codes and standards. These standards shall include, but not be limited to, pressure vessel (ASME Section VIII Div.1), piping (ASME B31.3), structural (ASCE 7 / AISC Steel Construction Manual), and welding codes (AWS D1.1 / AWS D1.6). Required Qualifications • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university. • P.E. preferred, not required. • Ability to work with others in a cooperative team environment. • General knowledge of Creo or SOLIDWORKS is highly preferred. • Strong problem-solving capabilities. • Positive attitude and excellent work ethic. Additional Requirements All candidates must be able to pass a drug test, pre-employment physical, and background investigation. High awareness of safe working practices and procedures. Lead Mechanical Engineer

Description You will be involved in nuclear power plant systems design, including preparation or review of: • Modification packages for operating nuclear power plants • Functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems • Engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems • Technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment • Vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment • Studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants In addition, you will have the opportunity to: • Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes • Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the client and make presentations related to engineering tasks and status • Lead engineering project teams This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.
