Essential Functions: Responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes. • Optimize productivity through efficient, ergonomic, and safe workstation and tooling designs. • Assist with project management of new equipment including evaluation, design, specification, selection, justification, acquisition, installation, training, and sign-off to manufacturing. • Participate in simultaneous engineering efforts to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness. • Participate in Process FMEAs and participate in Design FMEAs with cross-functional groups including Manufacturing, Design, Quality, Purchasing, and Sales. • Utilize tools outlined in AS9100 standard including process capability studies, control plans, and statistical process control to ensure timely and successful product launches. • Coordinate with project teams and external tool suppliers to develop production systems and equipment with the lowest cost of ownership. • Create and reconcile manufacturing documentation as required by the various operating procedures such as manufacturing bills of material, labor routings, manufacturing process documentation, production, and tooling projects, etc. • Remain current in new Manufacturing Engineering technology, new manufacturing techniques and new equipment. Identify and recommend improved methods where relevant. • Train others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to implement changes. • Demonstrate successful Project Management techniques and abilities by combining Engineering skills and people skills. • Lead and participate in Kaizen events based on VSM Roadmaps. • Lead initiatives to improve Operating Margins. • Serves as back up to the Design Engineer for both straps and webbing. • Assist with quality compliance and internal audits. • Perform all duties and tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor to support the entire effort of Sturges Manufacturing in the successful delivery of quality products to its customers.
