Traeger is seeking a highly technical, creative Mechanical Engineer to join our APRD team in Salt Lake City, UT. This role is designed for an engineer who is not only capable of solving complex problems but who thrives on becoming a subject matter expert in emerging technologies, transforming ideas into reality through design, prototyping, and innovation. You will be responsible for creating and building new solutions during the advanced development phase and ensuring their successful handoff to execution teams. This includes conceiving and fabricating prototypes that bring concepts to life, clearly demonstrating design intent and engineering vision. From there, you will develop detailed technical documentation that enables seamless transition into production. This role requires more than execution—it demands an innovator, builder, and creator. You will lead technical problem solving, push boundaries with new technologies, and bring a maker's mindset to everything you do. How You Will Help Us Win: • Translate consumer insights and research into tangible product innovations that fuel Traeger's pipeline and deliver best-in-class consumer experiences. • Serve as a subject matter expert for new technologies, materials, and methods, establishing technical leadership within the organization. • Drive the creation of prototypes—ranging from rough mock-ups to precision builds—that communicate vision, function, and manufacturability. • Lead advanced development projects through R&D, validation, and transition into execution teams. • Apply rigorous engineering analysis (mechanical statics/dynamics, mechanisms, FEA, CFD, cost, and material selection) to inform design decisions. • Champion agile, iterative development methods to ensure speed without sacrificing quality. • Partner with internal teams, external suppliers, and global resources to develop prototypes and ensure manufacturability. • Influence cross-functional teams by integrating process improvements, best practices, and technical excellence into the development cycle. • Manage a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring they meet cost, quality, and timeline goals. What You'll Need to Succeed: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. • 5–10 years of experience in product development, preferably with consumer products. • Proven ability to create, design, and build—from concept sketches to working prototypes. • Strong background in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFM/DFA) and cost-conscious product development. • Advanced skills in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), including solid, surface, and sheet metal modeling. • Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication using both hand tools and machine tools. • Strong analytical skills with experience in mechanical analysis, FEA, and CFD. • Track record of technical innovation, with patents or novel product contributions preferred. • Comfortable leading as a technical SME while collaborating cross-functionally across disciplines (SW, FW, EE, ID, Quality, Operations). • Experience working with international suppliers and the ability to travel as needed. • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and driven by curiosity, creativity, and craftsmanship. Senior Mechanical Engineer (Utilities & HVAC)

Job Summary Dennis Group’s Mechanical Engineers design and implement mechanical systems as part of a broad engineering and architectural team in designing and building food and beverage production facilities. Specifically, HVAC, plumbing / utility, and fire suppression systems. Our mechanical team is involved with designing the mechanical systems, calculating space heat and cooling loads, determining and selecting equipment sizes, and vetting and selecting suitable vendors, suppliers, and sub-contractors. Mechanical Engineers will have technical responsibility for scoping, performing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments. You will be a member of our mechanical department and your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Responsibilities • Work independently on projects • Work several projects simultaneously • Execute all tasks necessary to complete the engineering on a project from design through execution • Perform heating and cooling load calculations • Code reviews for HVAC/plumbing/fire protection designs • Perform mass energy balance calculations • Perform drainage and line loss calculation • Perform flow test (hydrant or other) analysis • Sanitary design considerations (layouts, process exhaust) • PID drafting & design • Bid package: equipment and sub-contractor – bid list, scope of work, milestone schedule • Provide cost estimation and scheduling to PMs • Bid Review • Peer design review • Scheduling – MS Project • Discipline lead for commissioning activities • Equipment selection • Vendor and Sub-contractor selection • Controls functional description development • Create mechanical schedules • Present engineering findings to client, interfaces directly and regularly with client • Building code familiarity, compliance & review • Insurance carrier requirements – familiarity and review • Vendor shop inspection / FAT • Develop HVAC, plant utility, plumbing, and fire suppression systems • Assist in mechanical system design development and coordinating with other internal and external team members • Develop Mechanical / Utility equipment and construction specifications • Develop P&ID’s, equipment layout plans, plant / process utility distribution plans, and system details • Sizing and developing layouts for ductwork and piping plans • Assist with the development of the building management system (BMS) controls, details, and plans with electrical and controls engineers • Create project documents such as calculations, reports, and construction drawings and specifications, etc. • Fixture selection • Perform construction administration in the form of submittal reviews, RFI responses, and field visits to verify construction scope is proceeding per the intent of the design • Research mechanical / utility materials and best practices • Support talent growth within our organization • Provide coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor. • Handle complex issues and tasks with minimal supervision and advise subordinate team members on solutions to issues they encounter. Required Education Skills and Experience • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related 4-year degree • 8-11 years of demonstrated HVAC and utilities experience; mechanical experience in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or other sanitary environments is a plus • 8-11 years of experience HVAC and/or Utilities design and specifications experience • 8-11 years of experience working with computer operations for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) • 8-11 years of experience performing calculations in areas of energy, drainage, line loss, etc. • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus • Travel to customer project sites for review, audit, and meetings, estimated 10-25% Physical Requirements • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times.
