This position will provide engineering expertise to the organization in its efforts to and carry out sustainment of current products and support in the development of new range products and equipment. Activities may include research of new technologies/alternative methods, conceptual design, detail & design drafting, product development, project management, construction, fatigue and stress analysis, test plans, on-site testing, commissioning of product installation and general technical product support. Some of your day-to-day tasks? • Develop new products and product enhancements based on market needs, best practices, and new technologies • Utilize New Product Development (NPD) milestone process for management, tracking and reporting for project status • Provide supporting calculations and specifications necessary for the development of designs • Complete detailed designs and specifications, including 3D modeling, drawing creation, DFMEA development and document control • Working effectively in a team environment interacting with customer, suppliers, product line managers, sales, range design and peer engineers • Develop and execute new product test plans in the lab, factory, and on-sites • Calculate and analyze test results, prepare detailed reports, recommendations, and conclusions • Assist in the preparation of technical details for sales inquiries, technical literature, and operations literature • Conduct risk assessments of product and equipment designs • Participate in the continuous improvement and upgrades of current products • Prepare detailed evaluation reports, cost estimates and recommendations on the specification and design of new or improved products, equipment or processes as required. • Develop, manage, and complete projects against fixed timelines and budgets • Participate in implementation and maintenance of organizational engineering processes What do you need to be able to do? • BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent • 2-4 yrs. engineering experience in industrial and/or consumer product design required • 3D modeling and drawing experience using Creo/ProE • Understanding of drawing standards, stack up tolerances, and revision control • Conceptual design capabilities • Understanding of static and dynamic systems • Understanding of materials, mechanical and electrical properties, surface treatment, welding, bending, etc. • Understanding of mechanical fatigue and stress analyses. • Engineering project management experience • Some travel may be required to provide support for field service and install crews Action Target is proud to be an equal-opportunity workplace and is an affirmative-action employer.
