We are looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to our team in Orem, UT .The Mechanical Engineer will take responsibility for the conceptual design of the process and unit operations, and will work with the team to develop next-scale designs and processes.This person must work well within a small team environment and requires someone who is comfortable operating autonomously with open-ended tasks. You will have the opportunity to interact with every part of the technology development from design of new and novel equipment and experiments to detailed large-scale equipment design, sourcing, and operation. It is intellectually engaging work on complex, unique, and novel problems. What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be… Design parts and equipment for Cryogenic Carbon Capture test platform Create equipment sizing and plant layouts using 3D parts and assemblies in SolidWorks Participate in operating skid-scale test equipment Communicate and present status updates on projects Provide support for engineering team Prepare process equipment data sheets and equipment lists Prepare Process Flow Diagrams Assist in the development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams Assist in the preparation of Start-up and Operating Manuals Build and assemble test equipment prototypes and structures Some travel – 10% or less focused on site visits and commissioning Your Professional Experience Should Be… Experience witha CAD program (Solid Works or equivalent) Knowledge of engineering first principles, especially thermodynamics and heat/mass transfer and ability to apply those principles to real-world systems Proven teamwork skills Sound organizational skills for completing tasks as scheduled Strong communication skills both verbal and written for the purpose of explaining challenges and solutions internally, and presenting externally Good interpersonal skills to successfully interface other engineering disciplines and customers Working knowledge of Microsoft Office We prefer candidates that also have the following: 2 to 5 years of mechanical engineering experience (or educational equivalent) Knowledge of cryogenic process technologies which can include cryogenic air separation, natural gas liquefaction, hydrogen liquefaction, helium processing and liquefaction, etc. Knowledgeable in natural gas processing technologies Computer programming expertise in one or several of C++, C#, Java/JavaScript, or Python Some experience and interest in control system and human machine interface software Understands basic applicable engineering/electrical/safety codes Your Physical Work Environment Will Require… The ability to frequently sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. This position is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lifting of 50 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
