Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks, focusing on sheet metal and fabrication processes (laser cutting, press brake forming, welding, painting, mechanical assembly). • Apply engineering principles and mechanics to create robust, manufacturable designs. • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) for structural integrity and thermal performance. • Experience selecting and specifying mechanical hardware components (e.g., hinges, latch systems) to meet design requirements and ensure compliance with standards such as UL 50E, IEC 60529, and NEMA enclosure ratings is a plus. • Utilize bottom-up design methodology to build accurate models and assemblies. • Generate and maintain Bills of Material (BOM) and provide accurate labor and material estimates. • Collaborate with vendors for component qualification and monitor quality standards. • Support design reviews and provide recommendations for improvements to documentation and manufacturing processes. • Write and execute test plans; analyze and document results. • Mentor ME Interns, Designers, and Associate ME’s. Required Qualifications • B.S. and/or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. • 2+ years of industry experience post-graduation in mechanical design. • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and assembly design. • Strong understanding of engineering principles, mechanics, and manufacturing processes. • Experience with sheet metal design, fabrication processes, and mechanical assembly. • Familiarity with FEA tools and analysis techniques. • Familiarity with UL 50E, IEC 60529, and/or NEMA enclosure ratings is a plus. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. • Ability to work independently on well-defined tasks and collaborate effectively within a team.
