Mechanical Service Technician

SUMMARY: Join MI Conveyance Solutions as a Mechanical Service Technician, where you will deliver exceptional mechanical service to our valued customers. Your expertise in repairing and installing conveyor belts and maintaining mechanical equipment will be pivotal in keeping industries moving smoothly. JOB DUTIES: As a key member of our team, you will: • Perform on-site belt installation, splicing, and preventative maintenance while also being available for emergency repairs on call. • Fabricate both lightweight and heavyweight belts in our shop. • Utilize rigging techniques to safely lift belt rolls, presses, and tooling on and off conveyor systems. • Carry out basic millwright tasks, including torch heating, cutting, and the removal and installation of conveyor components such as bearings, idlers, pulleys, gearboxes, and motors. • Act as the primary customer contact for technical and service-related inquiries. • Work under supervision, adhering to detailed guidelines while addressing moderately complex repairs and installations. • Maintain a commitment to safe, courteous, and professional conduct at all times. • Ensure compliance with local and national regulatory agencies and Motion's safety standards. • Document and communicate the nature of services provided and any outstanding issues to our customers, while also recommending enhancements and repairs. • Provide technical support and training to customers regarding the operation and maintenance of their systems. • Respond to client needs with timely on-site services, including emergency repairs and equipment upgrades, available 24/7. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: A technical degree is typically required, with 0 to 3 years of relevant experience or a comparable combination of education and experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: The ideal candidate will possess: • The ability to read measuring instruments and perform basic math calculations. • Expertise in safely operating shop equipment, man-lifts, forklifts, and hand power tools. • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with customers, peers, and management to resolve issues. • A willingness and ability to drive company vehicles, in compliance with company policy within one year of starting, along with adherence to drug-free workplace regulations and other customer-required policies. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This role requires: • Ability to push/pull and lift/carry items up to 100 pounds. • Capability to lift bulky objects and perform various physical tasks such as neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, and repetitive bending. • Working from heights using man-lifts and platforms may be necessary. • Wearing safety equipment and harnesses is mandatory. • Flexibility to work in both indoor and outdoor settings, with potential for loud noise levels. COMPANY INFORMATION: MI Conveyance Solutions offers an attractive benefits package, including options for healthcare coverage, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay. The base pay for this role is $24.60 per hour. Please note that this figure does not account for other components of the total rewards package. THE ROLE In this role, you will thrive with the variety of engineering project opportunities available. The Mechanical Engineer applies mechanical engineering concepts to building systems. Mechanical engineering project work focuses on interpreting the architectural design of a building and designing the heating, cooling, and plumbing system needs to integrate and support that project design.
