Mechanical Maintenance

Job Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment in accordance with engineering specifications, manufacturer instructions, and standard operating procedures. Diagnose mechanical issues by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregular sounds, and utilizing precision measuring and diagnostic tools. Disassemble and remove defective components using hoists, cranes, and various hand and power tools; inspect parts for wear, damage, and conformity to specifications. Measure and assess dimensional changes in worn parts using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and rulers; recommend or perform necessary adjustments or replacements. Adjust and calibrate machine components and control instruments to ensure optimal functionality. Educate production personnel on preventive maintenance best practices and ensure adherence to maintenance schedules. Fabricate or modify components using machine shop tools and equipment when necessary. Manage spare parts and equipment inventory; track usage and place orders to maintain appropriate stock levels. Optimize resource usage by minimizing waste and ensuring tools and supplies are used efficiently. Provide support and information related to mechanical maintenance inquiries. Generate and maintain detailed maintenance records and reports for analysis and process improvement. Stay current with industry practices by attending workshops, reading technical materials, and networking with peers. Ensure clear communication and continuity between work teams by documenting maintenance activities and any irregularities. Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment at all times. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational goals. Perform other related duties as assigned. Adhere to all company policies and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) procedures. Qualifications & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in equipment maintenance or a related technical field. Proficient in the safe use of power tools and mechanical equipment. Strong attention to detail with the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance best practices. Proven track record of reliability, productivity, and adherence to safety protocols. Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude. As a Project Engineer, you’ll be the operational hub for complex mechanical (HVAC/Plumbing) projects—partnering with Project Managers and field teams to keep scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety on track. What You’ll Do • Project controls & docs: Own RFIs, submittals, change orders (COR/CO), meeting minutes, and logs. • Scheduling: Update master schedules (labor, equipment, fabrication, rentals); flag risks and pull-forward options. • Cost management: Support job cost control, vendor pricing, POs, and progress billings. • Field coordination: Assist QA/QC, pre-task/hazard analyses, site walks, and toolbox talks; drive punchlist closure. • BIM/CADD: Coordinate model updates and field integration with VDC/CADD partners. • Procurement: Source materials, track deliveries, resolve shortages; maintain vendor relationships. • Client/GC/Subs: Prep for and participate in project meetings; support subcontractor selection and oversight. • Closeout: Assemble O&M manuals, as-builts, and final turnover documents. What You’ll Bring • Background: Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering degree and 3–5 years in commercial construction or 10+ years relevant mechanical construction experience in lieu of degree. • Industry exposure: HVAC/Plumbing mechanical contractor experience on mid-to-large commercial projects (preferred). • Tools: Bluebeam, MS Project, Excel/Word; familiarity with BIM/CADD workflows (Revit/Navis/AutoCAD a plus). • Strengths: Organized, detail-driven, great follow-through; clear written/verbal communication; collaborative with GC/owner and trade partners. • Work setup: Onsite/in-office; sponsorship not available; remote option not available.
