Project Engineer (Kansas Office)

We take pride in every project we build for our clients and accept nothing short of top quality and value. TATRO is looking for a driven and motivated Project Engineer to join our team. SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE: The responsibilities of the Project Engineer will include but not be limited to, project coordination, customer satisfaction, account development and management, mentoring team members, and interfacing with field trade leaders, field craftsmen, and laborers. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These duties are not listed in any order of priority but will be weighted for performance management purposes. • Promote safety as the core value at TATRO. • Spend time training in the field to develop a well-rounded understanding of mechanical HVAC and plumbing systems. • Ensure customer satisfaction and act as a public relations liaison. • Work within perimeters of the project budget. • Ensure quality craftsmanship of all mechanical installations. • Monitor compliance with corporate/project safety program requirements. Document and ensure that any required corrective measures are addressed and implemented. • Develop Master Plan approach for project. • Execute, supervise and maintain CPMI. • Schedule all daily and weekly scope of work activities. • Requisition, maintain, and account for tools, materials and equipment. • Monitor progress, performance and quality of work for all Subcontractors and major Equipment Suppliers. • Coordinate all required jurisdictional inspections and maintain good working relationships with inspectors. • Review, analyze, and update Labor Hours/Job Cost Report information with management on weekly basis. • Optimize project opportunity through field/pre-fabrication planning, CAD, and maintaining an organized schedule without compromising the quality, safety or completion date of the project. • Assist management with schedule preparation to include resource/budget allocation and Labor Resource Charts. • Adhere to code compliance. • Ensure efficient project closeout, including completion of all punch list work, owner training and instruction, transfer of spare parts, final cleanup, demobilization, and project records archiving. • Keep proper and complete documentation of projects, in accordance with TATRO standard systems. • Provide necessary training, mentoring, coaching and leadership to field personnel, as well as participate in company provided training. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor s degree in construction science, Mechanical Engineering, or similar. • Prior experience working in the construction industry and overseeing projects. • Valid Driver s License. • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test. • Must be willing to travel when needed. Job Responsibilities: • Prepare and maintain schedules and coordinate with assigned construction projects • Client Development/Relationships • Cooperate and communicate effectively with Project Managers and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support • Prepare and distribute all approved job documents to ensure compliance with construction drawings and specifications • Prepare and submit O&M’s and closing documents to GC’s and Owners upon job completion • Coordinate multiple departments for owner training/turnover Onsite Responsibilities: • Timecard completion for crews • Support communication between PM and Foremen • Manage project documents (including submittals) Education/Experience: • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, preferred • Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience in the Construction Industry, preferred Physical Requirements: • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop; kneel and crouch. • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust and focus. • The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme temperatures. • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
