Description High Plains Processing is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the soon-to-be switch plant in Mitchell, South Dakota. High Plains is affiliated with South Dakota Soybean Processors (SDSP) and their strategic partners. This affiliation ensures Maintenance Technicians will have a foundation of support and resources needed to drive success. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting various issues to ensure the upkeep or repair of manufacturing equipment to keep the plant in peak operational status. We are currently hiring (9) Mechanical Maintenance Technicians to start in April 2025. Primary Responsibilities Safety • Keep safety at the forefront through compliance, training, identifying potential hazards, reporting incidents, knowing emergency response procedures and actively participating in safety initiatives. • Maintain all interior and exterior work areas in accordance with SQF compliance and safety policy and procedures, including maintaining the Master Sanitation Schedule to SDSP standards. • Work with the safety department and SQF management to comply with employee, product safety, and environmental compliance program standards. • Maintain standards above minimum compliance with all governing laws and regulations. People • Understand and comply with facility policies and procedures to ensure all facility or company objectives and goals are achieved. • Professionally interact and clearly communicate with all facility team members and departments. • Engage as a team member, actively completing daily tasks and additional duties. • Develop strong relationships with all internal departments. Maintenance and Reliability • Has direct influence and control of maintenance material and inventory • Maintains a clean shop and sanitary conditions • Participates in routine on-call schedule Equipment Maintenance: • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery, systems, and facilities. • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational issues and execute timely repairs. • Maintain and update maintenance logs, documentation, and schedules. Troubleshooting and Repairs: • Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions or breakdowns. • Utilize diagnostic tools and manuals to identify and resolve issues effectively. • Replace, adjust, or repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and other specialized equipment. Communicate and Collaborate • Notify supervisor of any observed safety, environmental, quality, or production opportunities. • Communicate with oncoming crew of all happenings, findings, or concerns that took place during shift. • Document operational challenges or main occurrences through shift notes. • Perform duties outside normal responsibilities as needed to support the team and organizational goals. Requirements Basic Qualifications • Highschool diploma or equivalent • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Basic computer skills including entering data into a spreadsheet and utilizing email • Maintain a safe, positive work attitude and demonstrate willingness to be a team member • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work well with others • Experience in a processing facility is preferred Physical Requirements Must Possess the Ability to Do the Following Frequently: • Sit, stand, and walk • Bend, squat, and kneel • Push/Pull/Carry/Lift 25- 50lbs. • Use fine finger movements • Reach above shoulder level • Climb ladders and stairs Work Environment • Work on & around high structures • Exposed to excessive noise • Exposed to dust • Works around moving machinery • Drives motorized equipment • Occasionally exposed to fumes • Exposed to temperature changes • Work in confined spaces

An Engineer I will be required to solve engineering problems using established practices to choose the best solution and communicate technical information internally and externally.
