As a Manufacturing Engineer at Terex Utilities, based in Huron, SD, you'll play a pivotal role in providing solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope. What you'll do • Support medium scope operations projects related to company objectives. • Optimize business systems to be efficient and sustainable. • Use cost analysis tools, knowledge of supplier base and manufacturing systems to aid in the procurement of mid-range operations projects. This may range from new test fixtures to acetone stills to new technology torque devices. • Use a variety of tools to analytically eliminate problems. • Fully understand what lean means here and how to apply the principles to our environment. • Use statistical process controls, data, facts, scientific methods, etc to aid you in driving change. • Investigation of new manufacturing processes • Use proper process change notification systems to ensure that others are being involved in improvements. • Manage and prioritize many projects at one time. • Provide meaningful inputs to 3P efforts to reduce safety concerns &cost, but increase quality, delivery, and ease of manufacturability. • Give meaningful input and suggestions along with technical documentation to support your decisions. • Work collectively as a group toward a common goal and understand what the impact certain sacrifices may have on those goals. • Lead teams towards specific goals and solutions. Work interdepartmentally and understand each teams roadblocks. This may include the use of 7 ways brainstorming, value stream mapping, standard work creation, etc. Responsible for the continuous improvement of work flow, root cause analysis, best practice documentation & training, intermediate project management, quality improvement initiatives, zero harm safety initiatives, development of non-standard work approaches, and the ability to work independently or in a team environment to deliver optimal results. This position requires the ability to suggest, plan, and implement methods to improve the company True North objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Customer Satisfaction, and Morale. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you are the technical expert for mid-range operations projects. You will be expected to guide small teams and take actions on developing solutions to specific engineering / production issues. Defining project scope, setting targets and leading deployment of mid-range projects will be a minimum expectation. Developing tools and systems to improve the business will also be a crucial part of the role. You will be expected to develop others to understand behavioral based goals and objectives that will aid in achieving desirable results. What you'll bring Basic Qualifications • 4 Year Engineering Degree (Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical preferred) • 1-2 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, welding, fab, laser, hydraulics, etc • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Lean knowledge and ability to teach others about lean • Cost analysis and project justification experience • Mentor lower level engineers and technicians • Ability to use CAD,MS Project, Vizio, other software as needed • CNC programming, Lean Certifications, Welding Certifications, 3P Experience, Capital Expense ROI, Project management, Manufacturing Process Automation knowledge preferred.
