JOB DUTIES OVERVIEW: This position maintains the mechanical equipment, pool chemical balances, and the surfaces of the pools and splash pads themselves. Also maintain the Aqua park and other needs at the beach Must be able to take initiatives for ordering chemicals and replacement parts, as well as for preventative maintenance projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Under supervision of the Aquatics Management team, is responsible for the general maintenance of the Aquatics Center, Lions Pool, Bisti Bay, Berg Fountain and Beach and Aqua Park. Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public. Facilitates maintenance of mechanical units including water filtration, water feature pumps, water heating, air heating and cooling, ventilation and dehumidification systems. Monitors pool water chemistry through testing of water samples and adjusts chemistry as needed to maintain standards. Monitors and maintains pool filtration system. Responsible for the upkeep of the facilities equipment including troubleshooting, evaluating, repairing or recommending maintenance repairs. Responsible for daily and monthly reports of water treatment and related activities. Vacuums pools. Makes emergency repairs of equipment. Performs routine repairs such as replacing tiles, painting, repairing door hinges, handles, glass, carpeting and roofing. Winterizes and prepares for seasonal closings and prepares for the opening of Basti Bay, Berg Fountain, and Beach/ Aqua Park. Performs routine cleaning tasks such as washing windows, cleaning locker rooms and rest rooms, cleaning carpets and power washing decks. Handles chemicals such as chlorine, celite, CO 2 , muriatic acid, and other pool chemicals. Must wear a respirator and appropriate PPE. May work in confined spaces. Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City. Orders parts and materials from outside vendors and city warehouse to maintain adequate inventory quantities are on hand at all times. Using the Internet, locates and establishes new vendors to meet criteria of lowest price and availability. Maintains positive working relationship with outside vendors to ensure the best pricing and availability of materials. May be required to obtain multiple price quotes in a timely manner. Calculates and plans daily and long-term ordering requirements of inventory stock items, including chemicals and parts. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Monitors chemical supplies and orders supplies as needed. Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS This position is subject to the City of Farmington Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and one-year experience in maintenance of an aquatic facility. Valid New Mexico driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years or state of current residency. Working knowledge of all chemical and mechanical equipment used in aquatic facilities. Must have a telephone at residence and be willing to be on 24-hour call; must be able to be at the Aquatics Center, Lions Pool, Brookside Pool, Berg Fountain, or Orchard Fountain within thirty minutes after receiving a call. Must have ability to work a varied shift including weekends and holidays. Considerable knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in pool maintenance. Considerable knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills. Knowledge of refrigeration and heating systems helpful. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must possess Certified Pool Operator certification or have the ability to obtain such within the six months of employment. Must be able to pass all physical tests for wearing appropriate PPE, including, but not limited to, a respirator. Must be able to pass all physical test related to confined spaces. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public. Extensive background checks required. This position has the responsibility to participate in and comply with the City's Environmental, Health, and Safety program. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Knowledge to include use of miscellaneous hand and power tools for pool maintenance, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work, janitorial equipment including carpet cleaners, vacuums, mops, brooms, and dusting equipment, motor vehicle, pool test kits, respirator, power washers. Electrical / Mechanical Technician - 23372

Overview: We are seeking a Electrical / Mechanical Technician for assignment in Farmington, New Mexico. The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks in the preventive and corrective maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment plant, and related equipment, on an assigned shift. Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm • * This position has a pay rate of $27.60/hr ** Responsibilities: • Performs skilled repair work on water and/or wastewater treatment plant equipment and instruments • Inspects, repairs and maintains electrical and/or electro-mechanical operating and control systems, equipment and fixtures • Inspects, maintains and repairs wiring and lighting systems, electrical control equipment, meters, outlets and panels, as well as motors, pumps and drives • Installs new equipment, interprets oral and written instructions, specifications, wiring diagrams and codes • May repair electrical and electronic instruments • Exercises independent judgment in solving normal work problems under general supervision of Maintenance Supervisor or Project Manager using standard tools and special electrical tools and equipment • Keeps electrical and mechanical maintenance records, prepares labor and material estimates • Understands the mathematics of electricity and machines • Read and record information in Maintenance Connection, work orders and mechanical information sheets • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles (i.e. fluid levels, belts, tires, etc.) • Perform routine onsite pump station inspections • Test auxiliary equipment (i.e. alarms, HVAC, pumps, engines, generators, etc.) • Lubricate equipment and replace filters • Reads, interprets and works from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications and technical illustrations • Assists in keeping maintenance records • Communicates effectively at all levels regarding recommended maintenance and repair procedures • Make clutch and regulator adjustments • Check and adjust tolerances of impellers and gears • Align moving equipment using alignment devices (i.e. dial indicators, calipers, etc.); demonstrate use of vibration analysis equipment • Replace bearings, seals, shafts and gears on equipment • Properly use acetylene/oxygen torch and arc welder to perform various tasks (i.e., cutting, welding, brazing, etc.) • Inspect and repair chemical feed equipment (i.e., hypochlorinators, metering pumps, regulators, injectors, polymer blend and feed) • Inspect emergency power systems (i.e. generators, transfer switches, etc.) • Determine pump ratings and efficiencies • Ability to install and/or modify new and existing equipment • Perform non-routine preventive and corrective maintenance on vehicles • This position may be required to be available on an on-call basis for emergencies • Travel between work locations is required • Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED • A valid Drivers License • 2+ years experience in the repair and maintenance of engines, pumps and other electrical / mechanical equipment #IND
