ASRC Federal System Solutions LLC, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support our Prime ASTROS contract (Aerospace Systems Technical Research Operations and Support Services) at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Edwards, AFB, CA— the Nation’s Premier Propulsion Test Facility. Key Role • Support the build‑up and test execution at assigned Test Sites. • Support operation of test panels during static testing of liquid rocket engines and solid rocket motors in high‑altitude simulated vacuum chambers. • Be familiar with piping, flanges and other systems related to test hardware, ensuring structural compatibility with intended loads during a test campaign. • Write and edit Work Authorizations for technicians to complete work assignments. • Work with pressure vessels, pressure piping systems, steam systems and cryogenic fluid systems (such as liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, or liquid hydrogen) following strict safety protocols. • Apply principles of fluid dynamics, thermal dynamics, and heat transfer in support system design and test operations. • Develop and update CAD models for fixtures, components, and test hardware using tools such as Solid Works, Creo, or other related software. • Use data acquisition systems and analysis programs to monitor, record, and interpret test data. • Assist in assembly, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, cryogenic, steam, and vacuum systems. • Support development of test procedures, technical documentation, and safety review documentation. • Develop drawings as needed and ensure AFRL test site’s Configuration Management folder is updated. • Develop relationships with the engineering team and create a strong team environment. • Work and collaborate in a team environment or independently to complete assignments and communicate progress. • Ensure all work is performed through either a Safe Plan of Action or a Work Authorization. • Provide routine briefings to Operations, Safety, and to the Test Site Scheduler. • Gain access to the customer’s computer networks. • Maintain a professional demeanor. • Have effective written and verbal communication skills. Education / Experience • BS Degree in Engineering or a related field with 0‑2 years of experience or equivalent. • Technical Writing ability.
