We are looking for someone with great mechanical ability, heavy equipment experience, and some welding ability. ASRC Federal is supporting cutting-edge propulsion systems testing at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and we are looking for the best people to be a part of this research. Responsibilities • The successful candidate will have experience in the following: • Ensuring safety for themselves and their team, warning others of hazards. • Basic knowledge of building construction and components (HVAC, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and landscaping). • Receiving daily instructions and providing feedback while completing work with minimal supervision. • Prioritizing tasks in a constantly changing environment. • Wearing assigned Personal Protective Equipment. • Being available to work overtime or different shifts with little notice. ASTROS supports a wide range of Propulsion Test Support. We need a Mechanical Engineer to support a new Project that will move from designing, building to testing a customer’s asset. This will be an exciting opportunity to assist and shape the next generation of propulsion. Key Role • Receive assignments from Senior Engineer or Project Manager and work to completion providing status updates as needed. • The ability to perform an advanced structural analysis on the integrity of a test fixture, support structures, flooring or support systems, like buildings. • Must be able to assess structures for safety, quality and adherence to regulations and clearly communicate findings and provide detailed work in the findings. • Visit Technician team on the test pad ensuring work is progressing as planned. • May be required to serve as part of the Test Team. • Must be able to develop relationships with the buildup crew and create a strong team environment. • Work independently and communicate progress. • Must understand and analyze static and dynamic loads including wind, rain, seismic activity, temperature and traffic and how these loads affect structural components and systems. • Familiar with piping, flanges and other systems related to test hardware ensuring structural compatibility with intended loads during a test campaign. • Write and edit Work Authorizations for technicians to complete work assignments. • Provide routine briefings to Senior Engineer, Site Scheduler, Customers and Program Management of all assigned tasks related to Test Facility Build up. • Assist in supporting senior leadership during a test readiness review prior to receiving customer’s permission to test. • Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor. • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.Basic Qualifications • 2+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or related field. • BA Degree. • Must be a US Citizen to meet government contract requirements. • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance.
