Our exciting growth and expansion has created the need to add a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to our team! The Design Engineer supports the company’s business development goals through product design, new product introduction, and development of manufacturing plans which include subcontracting requirements, BOM and standard routing creation to meet the customer’s expectations. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of design, manufacturing or assembly experience. Preferably supporting the heavy duty truck or automotive industry, along with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or appropriate discipline. The Design Engineer will have demonstrated skills in being an analytical problem solver, and possess a high degree of emotional intelligence that gives voice to the Hi-Vac Values of Integrity, Accountability, Teamwork and Innovation with assigned team, peers, customers, and business entity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Coordinate product change notices and product changes for performance, production improvements and cost reductions. • Develop suppliers and vendors to subcontract the fabrication and assembly of the O’Brien and Hi-Vac product lines. • Create/update engineering 2D layouts or 3D models and 2D drawings, and specifications. • Coordinate changes to bills of materials, and routings to support product manufacturing. • Provide technical assistance to all departments and to outside clients through product knowledge, design and production assistance. • Support Quality Control efforts with first article inspections and approval of outside manufactured components and products. • Support standardization and cost reduction projects which involve product line extensions of re-engineered products and new product introductions. PRIMARY DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Assembles cores and shafts to create rotor assemblies.
