Job duties Evaluate and monitor all aspects of automotive production by conducting research and testing of components in the manufacturing hard plastic automotive parts made with composite materials such as Glass Mat Thermoplastics (GMT), Expanded Poly Propylene (EPP), sheet molding compounds and other compounds. Analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data related to automotive components to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of machinery to manufacture automotive parts. Interpret and analyze automotive engineering specifications and proposed designs to select high-quality and cost-efficient machinery and equipment. Maintain and adhere to government and industry-mandated regulations and guidelines while applying knowledge of automotive engineering principles. Develop and test automotive prototypes to ensure compliance with client specifications and government and industry standards. Calculate engineering costs to assist other departments in preparing bid proposals for customer orders or purchasing automotive manufacturing equipment. Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to ensure quality control by addressing and eliminating irregularities or faults in automotive manufacturing processes and equipment. Record data and results from prototype tests, making necessary engineering adjustments to optimize performance and ensure compliance with required standards. Field Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY This position is accountable for providing maintenance support to shop and field operations at project locations for Scott Bridge Company, Inc. Incumbents are responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance of functional parts of mechanical equipment or machinery used in construction work. Typically, they will work closely with the Superintendent, Foreman, Mechanics, Welders, Laborers, Helpers and other skilled or semi-skilled craft workers. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES • Works as assigned by the Equipment Superintendent to ensure that timely maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery. • Disassembles repairs and assembles diesel and gasoline engines. • Performs minor and major repairs on brake, electrical, fuel, lubrication, cooling, vacuum and hydraulic systems and drive trains. • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems with machinery and equipment. • Lubricants and services automotive and heavy equipment as needed. • Orders materials and supplies needed for repair and maintenance of various pieces of equipment and machinery. • Performs general facility maintenance and clean-up tasks. • Performs related mechanic duties as assigned. • Participated in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs. • Ability to fill out time and service reports in a concise accurate manner. • Overnight travel is required to jobsites occasionally for several days at a time. • Clean driving record is a must. Commercial license a plus. POSITION REQUIREMENTS A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary mechanic skills, knowledge and abilities is required. The incumbent must also be able to communicate well and have good knowledge of the: • Practices and materials of the heavy equipment mechanic trade. • Mechanic craft and can demonstrate proficiency to perform the job. PHYISCAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done. In addition, Heavy Equipment Mechanic must be capable of: • Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing or sitting for long periods of time. • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, writs, hands and back in performance work. • Climbing vertical ladders to heights of 40’-50’ • Working in confined spaces • Working at elevated heights • Lifting 50 lb. objects as required • Carrying 50 lb. objects as required • Adapting to extreme temperature changes • Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure • Remaining calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as directed by the circumstances of the incident.
