Leidos’ Defense Systems Rapid Integration and Prototyping Department is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. You will get the opportunity to design and influence important technologies for DoD customers. Your work directly impacts national defense by enhancing and providing situational awareness for service members in varied environments around the world. Primary Responsibilities • The successful candidate will be responsible for leading designs and working within multi-discipline teams to develop and execute challenging tasks. • The candidate will produce technical data packages including part drawings, assembly drawings, source control documents, and interface control documents per ASME Y14. Basic Qualifications • BS degree in engineering with 8+ years of experience or Masters degree with 6+ years of experience. • 8+ years of applicable experience in design and/or analysis of mechanical systems including technical data package production per ASME Y14.100 & Y14.5. • Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Secret clearance. • Servant leadership: • Sets an example of work ethics and culture for the team • Follows through on commitments Preferred Qualifications • 4+ years of leadership experience (teams or projects) If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling. What You’ll Get To Do: • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating mechanical systems design • Evaluating mechanical systems, products, components, and applications by reviewing designs. • Ensures product quality by reviewing mechanical designs and validating that current standards are applied. • Supports the delivery of Mechanical Systems design Technical Data Packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts • Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues • Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline. • Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities. • Developing and maturing Mechanical System designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline. - Mechanical design experience that includes the interpretation of engineering design drawings. - Experience with engineering CAD tools (Creo, Solid Works, I-DEAS, etc.) and model based product definition. - Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis. - Candidate must have good oral, written, and presentation communication skills. - Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
