Maintenance Technician - Mechanic (Full-Time)

Description: Properties Division Reports to Maintenance Director Job Summary The primary responsibility of the Automotive Technician will be to maintain SSBCC vehicles and equipment to the highest possible standard of excellence. Summary of Essential Job Functions • Prioritize all maintenance and repair work assignments based on the following criteria: staff and guest needs, emergency work, and preventative maintenance. • Perform assigned preventative maintenance tasks as outlined in the Preventative Maintenance Manual. • In conjunction with the Properties Director, assist in maintaining an organized and adequate inventory of maintenance and repair related items needed to perform assigned duties, i.e., general repair parts, belts, oil, filters, nuts, bolts, etc. • Maintain appearance and cleanliness of vehicles and equipment. • Maintain shop equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and preventive maintenance. • Maintain and repair facilities and equipment to include all buildings, plumbing and electrical systems, etc. • Promote and ensure a safe working environment. • Practice and promote energy conservation. • Accept miscellaneous assignments as agreed upon with the supervisor. Requirements: Spiritual • In all aspects of personal, professional and spiritual life, exemplify Christ-like standards. • By word and action, express a personal acceptance and faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and actively involved with a body of believers Life and Job Related • High school graduate or equivalent required- further study in maintenance-related area helpful. • Work experience in general maintenance or work related field. • Ability to communicate (auditory, verbal and written) adeptly with guests, program personnel and employees. • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and details and perform assigned duties in a pleasant and competent manner. Physical • Physical ability to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week repairing or replacing water and sewer lines, pumps, air conditioning/heating units, truck and or tractor drive train components, vehicle body components, plumbing fixtures, water heaters, lighting equipment, and other maintenance related equipment found on the SSBCC campuses. • Physical ability or strength to lift, carry, and load onto a 4' high platform plumbing fixtures, water heaters, lighting equipment, and other maintenance related equipment found on the SSBCC campuses weighing up to 80 pounds. • Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate company vehicles and equipment. • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions indigenous to Talladega County, Alabama. • Ability to abstain from use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, and controlled substances.
