See More Details >>A Snapshot of Your Day At 4:00 PM, the team gathers with the supervisor for a shift kickoff meeting to discuss a daily safety topic, job assignments, and shift goals. Following the meeting, the focus shifts to the assigned lathe, where machining of a new generator rotor shaft begins. Upon arrival at the lathe, the electronic production system is accessed to review shop notes from the previous shift. Work instructions are then consulted, and equipment is set up for the production order. The machine setup is completed by adjusting the steady rests and changing the steady rest shoes to the correct diameter. Once the setup is finalized, collaboration with a crane operator facilitates the loading of the rotor into the lathe. After aligning the rotor, the necessary cutting tool for the first operation is installed. Machining operations commence and continue until the end of the shift. Before leaving, shop notes are documented in the electronic production system for the third shift team, allowing for a smooth transition in machining. The rotor will remain in the lathe for the next seven days, undergoing machining operations across three shifts each day.
