Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a CNC Machinist - Horizontal Milling at BSC Precision, located in Winston-Salem, NC. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC horizontal milling machines, setting up machinery, and ensuring machine efficiency. Day-to-day tasks will include performing routine maintenance on machines, inspecting finished products for quality, and working closely with the production team to meet project deadlines. Key Job Elements First Shift Duties and Responsibilities: • Operates various CNC machines as part of the production process to produce parts for the large mining & locomotive industry in accordance with customer specifications, company guidelines and checklists. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with PR safety policies; • Operate CNC machines including horizontal mills, engine lathes, and manual grinders to produce finished machine components; • Use precision gauges and instruments such as micrometers to determine and follow customers specifications; • Maintain specifications by observing, drilling, grooving and cutting, including turning, milling, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes; • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts; • Other duties as assigned; • Perform all duties and responsibilities within time standards allowed. Advanced Duties and Responsibilities: • Maintain specifications by observing, drilling, grooving and cutting, including turning, milling, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes; • Troubleshoot and repair various machines; • Train other employees. Qualifications and Experience Preferred Skills: • Possess expertise and/or certification in Advanced Machining Techniques; • Hold Certification in Non-Destructive Testing; • Possess high level of machining Aptitude; • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings; • Complete rework as required; • Complete machine setup as required. Essential and Physical Activities Functions: • Strength - Position requires lifting of 50lbs. Requires stamina and strength to work in tight and confined spaces while installing or repair machinery and components; • Motion - Position requires standing majority of the day. Frequent walking, squatting, kneeling and climbing of steps and stairs; • Vision/Hearing Requirements - Position is exposed to high levels of noise and vibration from using tools. Position is exposed to cutting torches and welding operations. The use of proper PPE is required. The Position requires the ability to read QWI and schematics and understand instructions; • Work Environment - Position is located inside a climate-controlled environment.
