Summary: The primary function of this position is the efficient set-up, operation and troubleshooting of CNC machining centers ensuring the proper machining techniques are followed and acceptable levels of quality and productivity are met within established parameters in a safe and effective manner. Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to): • Starts up and shut down a variety of machine(s) following established company procedures and safety guidelines. • Sets up and operates numerically controlled (NC, CNC, PLC and other manual machines) lathes (horizontal & vertical) performing machining operations including: turning, boring and facing castings and forgings. Selects and installs tooling into tool posts, turrets or indexing heads. • Mounts work piece in chuck, or faceplate, manually or using hoist or cranes. • Performs machining operations on a variety of parts at times with high levels of complexity, ensuring machining operations are performed within established parameters, minimizing scrap and rework with acceptable levels of output. • Reads and interprets a variety of engineering and quality specifications. • Applies practical and working knowledge of machines to make the necessary adjustments (turning dials, switches, and assigned offset/program controls) to override machine control and correct machine performance. • Responsible for all inspections ensuring conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. May also perform inspections for other operators if required. • Observes numerical displays on control panel and compares with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates and speed of machining cuts. • Performs continuous improvement (lean) activities as may be assigned or required.Performs other duties and assignments as scheduled and/or required. Requirements/Qualifications: • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. Technical degree in manufacturing technology preferred. • One (1) to three (3) years machining experience in precision manufacturing environment. • Solid understanding and ability to use shop math and precision (micrometers, precision dial gauges, etc.) measuring instruments. • A thorough knowledge of CNC machine operation, tool off setting and basic machine code is strongly preferred. • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment including identification of unsafe conditions. Steel toed shoes and ANSI approved safety glasses with side shields must be worn at all times. • Must be able to read, write, understand technical documentation, computer literate, read process drawing (blueprints), and engineering specification.Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment including identification of unsafe conditions. Machinist

Roles & Responsibilities • Maintains equipment in working order to produce product within specified quality and quantity limits, adjusting, troubleshooting, cleaning, and repairing as necessary. • Is responsible for maintaining equipment logs for each piece of equipment, recording pertinent information about downtime and maintenance problems. • Assists the Maintenance Department, LTA/Production Mechanic or Manufacturing Technician in major repairs. • Performs preventative maintenance on the equipment as specified in the plant preventative maintenance (PM) program or as needed for smooth operation. • Starts up equipment and ensures proper functioning of machines and control panel. • Monitors / replenishes component inventories and ensures all safety guards are in position and functional. • Shuts machine cycle off when a jam occurs and after clearing the jam, restarts the machine cycle. • Maintains accurate production and downtime records (logbooks). • Maintains a neat and orderly production environment. • Observes all safety and environmental procedures and Quality System Requirements (QSR). • Supports upstream and downstream operations. Performs rework as required. Experience Required • Must have mechanical hands-on background. • Made up of components that translate across other industries. • Bonus has high speed manufacturing experience. • Car engines, boat engines. Skills & Certifications • Has detailed operational knowledge of the equipment to the point that he/she can operate within specified quality/quantity limits. • Must have clear and legible handwriting. • Able to function in a team environment. • Soft skills, team oriented, continuous improvement. Eligibilities & qualifications • Requires mechanical ability and knowledge of proper use of tools, proper troubleshooting and set up procedures, and machine blueprint reading. • Checks and cleans part tracks to ensure free travel of all component parts. • Notifies material handler if part supplies run low. • Continually monitors in-process quality, addressing issues as needed to prevent product holds. • Performs and documents all required Q.C. checks.
