MACHINE OPERATOR

• Operate high speed sophisticated machines by managing settings and conducting tests to ensure a successful operation in the production process. • Ensure that machines are calibrated and recalibrated before and after production procedures. • Arrange machine at the beginning of work procedures to ensure that everything is in order. • Test the machine before main work begins to be sure that it's in good condition for production. • Set all machine operation information such as speed, size and shape into machine before it begins running. • Insert all production materials in the various parts of the machine where they are supposed to be to enhance production output. • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on all equipment in the department. • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment as scheduled by manufacturers • Troubleshoot any mechanical problems as needed, and determine actual faults. • Keep department running trouble free 24 hours per day • Inventory parts for the equipment to obtain "like new" state • Repair any "breakdowns" of equipment in a timely and thorough manner • Ensure that the equipment is repaired correctly • Strictly adhere to client job specification and ensure good quality work. • Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times • Ensure timely preparation and availability of all production materials to avoid shortage during production. • May need to carry a cell phone and be available for emergency call backs • Be self-supervised and professional in all assigned duties • Maintain good housekeeping in designated areas at all times • Perform any other assignments as required by supervisor • Clean up machine parts after every work procedure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in precision machining and extensive hands-on experience working in the field on industrial machinery and equipment. This role involves travel to client sites to perform in-place machining, repairs, and modifications on a variety of large-scale equipment including turbines, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems. Shift: Varies based on assigned projects; evenings, weekends, and/or holidays may be required Job Duties and Responsibilities • Perform on-site machining operations such as milling, line boring, flange facing, drilling, threading, and shaft turning. • Job preparation and mobilization / demobilization including equipment lists and preparation, procedures. • Set up and operate portable machine tools and equipment according to precise specifications. Ahear to all Hydratight and site specific procedures and policies including work permits and proper use of PPE and other equipment. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and work orders. • Inspect, diagnose, and determine machining requirements to rectify problems with equipment and/or difficult situations. • Ensure accurate tolerances and measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments. • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other field staff to ensure project success. Communicates job progression back to the main office daily. • Provide clear and accurate job documentation, including work reports and time sheets. • Travel frequently to client job sites, including offshore, remote, or international locations as required. Skills and Competencies • Computer skills include knowledge of Microsoft Windows software suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and company business ERP system. • Read and interpret documents such as operating procedural manuals, maintenance instructions, and safety rules and MSDS. • Ability to scope, troubleshoot and execute project to required specifications with support from service center. • Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, or employees of organization. • Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry, including the use of decimals and fractions. • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. • Resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. • Resolve problems involving several variables in standardized and non-standardized situations. • Proficiency in portable machining equipment such as Climax, Mirage, or Hydratight. • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills. • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and in challenging field environments. • Valid driver’s license required; TWIC, OSHA, or offshore certifications are a plus. Ability to obtain TWIC required • Ability to pass site specific background and drug tests as needed. Education and Experience • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Technical/vocational training in machining or mechanical trades highly preferred. • Minimum 5+ years of field machining experience in industrial or heavy equipment settings. • Process Basic Plus and/or OSHA 10 • Active Nuclear clearance is preferred Physical Demands Employee will have to lift tools up to 100 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. This will include occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like. Employee will move themselves in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Employee will need to move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another. Employee will need to operate machinery and/or power tools, motor vehicles, and heavy equipment. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations.
