Job Title: Machinist Location: Winston-Salem, NC Company: Hanes Companies Department: Maintenance Reports To: Maintenance Superintendent Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled manual Machinist to join our maintenance team for machining, fabricating, modifying and repairing machine parts, and equipment. This role is critical to our manufacturing processes, the maintenance of textile machinery used to make industrial fabrics and should work well under minimal supervision. Ideally you must also understand how to read mechanical blueprints, perform calculations, calibrate and maintain machinery, set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, sanders, welders and other fabrication equipment, and hold tight tolerances with precision. Experience in a manufacturing environment, good housekeeping practices, and a commitment to safety are a must. Key Responsibilities • Set up, operate, and maintain lathes, milling machine, hoists, grinders, welders, torches, and the overall housekeeping of the machine shop. • Make calculations and perform roll crowning and nip impressions with accuracy, as any compromise in the shape can lead to more issues or no crown at all in a roll. • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment. • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs as needed. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings and perform the required math. • Maintain accurate records of roll inventory, repair and resurface rolls as needed. • Support and follow all safety protocols and company policies. Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required; Technical degree or vocational training preferred. • 2+ years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing or industrial setting. • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. • Ability to read mechanical drawings, interpret prints, and follow detailed instructions. • Strong problem-solving skills and extreme attention to detail. • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. This role ensures parts meet precise specifications and quality standards, contributing directly to the production of durable, custom-built truck bodies and trailers. 2nd shift CNC Machine Operator Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Set up and operate CNC machinery to cut, shape, and finish metal or aluminum components according to engineering drawings and production orders. • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and work instructions to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality. • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job. • Monitor machine operation and adjust feeds, speeds, or tooling as needed to maintain part quality and efficiency. • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on CNC machines to prevent downtime. 2nd shift CNC Machine Operator Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Strong knowledge of CNC programming and G-code understanding preferred. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files. • Proficient with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques. • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment or part variances. • Basic understanding of metal fabrication and machining principles. • Attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and strong work ethic. • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team. 2nd shift CNC Machine Operator Education and Experience • High school diploma or GED required. • Technical training or certification in CNC machining or related field preferred. • Minimum 2 years of CNC operating experience, preferably in metal fabrication or manufacturing. • Experience with truck, trailer, or automotive components a plus.
