Must be able to troubleshoot commercial and domestic air conditioning and refrigeration. Must be able to test systems for refrigerant leaks and charge large and small systems. Must have a working knowledge of low pressure steam boilers. Should have mechanical knowledge of pumps, steam traps, air handlers and controls as pertains to boiler burners and HVAC systems. Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, air lifts and in confined spaces. Physically able to perform the specific job. Able to lift fifty (50) pounds or more. Able to work in cold and hot temperatures during emergency conditions if required. Essential Job Functions: • Must attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner. • Available for after-hour calls. • To make recommendations for purchase of supplies and materials related to proper building maintenance, upkeep and installation of new equipment. • To diagnose and make recommendations for contracted work when major repairs are required on the various equipment. • To diagnose and make repairs as required to District owned refrigeration equipment chillers, air-conditioning units, air handlers, pumps, boilers, boiler burners, controls and other types of heating, cooling and ventilation equipment. • To keep tools and equipment in good operating condition. • To keep tools organized in order to minimize wasted time. • To keep shop and work bench clean and orderly at all times. • If a vehicle is furnished by the District it must be kept clean and orderly at all times. • To maintain safe working conditions at the assigned job station at all times. • To safeguard School District property, buildings, tools and equipment from damage in performing daily assignments. • Maintain a positive, cooperative, and respectful working relationship with other Maintenance staff, principals, teachers, parts suppliers, and the District Supervisors and Administrators. • Must maintain appropriate grooming and appearance to work in a school setting as described in the district handbook. • Basic computer skills are necessary for recordkeeping. • To perform other duties as directed by the Director of Maintenance & Operations or his appointed Representative.
