Commercial HVAC Technician

Proctor Mechanical has been in business for over 90 years. As one of the leading mechanical contractors in Iowa we are looking to add a Commercial HVAC Technician to our team of talented craftsmen. As a Commercial HVAC Technician you will perform HVAC troubleshooting, maintenance, diagnosing and repairing of commercial HVAC equipment and systems. Installation of new HVAC systems, ductwork, specialty equipment and start-up. Provides preventative maintenance inspections and responds to emergency service calls when needed. Responsibilities 1. Plans, supervises and performs skilled installation of HVAC and hydronic systems. Review blue prints, job specifications and estimates. 2. Commissioning of new ventilation and HVAC equipment. 3. Repair, replace and troubleshoot existing HVAC equipment and systems. 4. Supervise the work of apprentices, and laborers. Mentor apprentices and evaluate their work. 5. Prepare and turn in daily and weekly paperwork in a timely manner 6. Prioritizes and plans work activities to complete projects on time. 7. Communicate professionally and effectively with customer, manager and team members. 8. Maintains a safe and clean work environment by following OSHA regulations and company policies. 9. Operate vehicles, hand and power tools, and specialized equipment used in the area of the assignment. 10. Be able to pass background checks and drug tests as needed (pre-employment, and for specific projects). 11. Identify new customers and additional opportunities within existing accounts 12. Follow all safety requirements and use of appropriate PPE 13. Responsible for tool care and management 14. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications 1. Thorough knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used for HVAC industries. 2. Thorough knowledge of work hazards and safety precautions. 3. Thorough knowledge of HVAC codes and standards. 4. Considerable knowledge of HVAC maintenance and repair techniques, equipment, safety standards, methods and materials. 5. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and using tact, courtesy and good judgement. 6. Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail to meet deadlines. 7. Ability to understand and execute oral and written instruction, policies and procedures. 8. Ability to operate and maintain equipment and hand and power tools used in the HVAC industry. 9. Ability to plan, coordinate and perform skilled work in the area of assignment. 10. Ability to read and understand instruction manuals, blueprints, plans, and specifications. 11. Ability to estimate time, labor and materials for various tasks. 12. Ability to prepare accurate records and reports. 13. Ability to plan, conduct and perform assigned tasks 14. Ability to provide effective training to employees. 15. Ability to physically perform assigned duties 16. Ability to coordinate work with other trades and project managers 17. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives of outside agencies and the general public. 18. Basic understanding of Control Systems. Summary As a Commercial HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Reporting to the HVAC Supervisor, your role is vital in ensuring optimal system performance and customer satisfaction. You will utilize your core skills in refrigeration and HVAC, along with premium skills in HVAC design and service technician experience, to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. Your mechanical knowledge and experience will enhance your ability to perform field service tasks effectively, contributing to the overall success of our operations.
