HVAC and Refrigeration Technician

The HVAC & Refrigeration Technician will be a knowledgeable and skilled technician capable of to providing a full range of installation, repair, and upgrade services for a wide range of heating and cooling products, including air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, fan coils, thermostats, walk-in and upright coolers and open-air cases in commercial settings across our organization. What You’ll Do: • Diagnose the cause of problems and/or failures in heating and air conditioning systems and refrigeration systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and system repair and replacement needs. • Inspect HVAC and refrigeration systems and their components (e.g., heating units, evaporators, condensers, ventilation units, etc.) to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs, and recommend preventive maintenance. • Install heating/air conditioning systems and refrigeration equipment to provide enhanced and upgraded capabilities. • Perform routine and preventive maintenance as needed for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning of HVAC & refrigeration systems. • Repair heating and air conditioning systems and components (e.g., pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, piping, etc.). • Maintain vehicle, tools, and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability and safe operating condition. • Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars as assigned to gather information required to perform or enhance job functions. • Prepare written materials (e.g., repair status, activity logs, work orders, etc.) for customers as well as supervisors to document job status. • Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability of items required for installation and/or repair. • Coordinate with other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently. • Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. What You’ll Bring: • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. • The ideal HVAC/Refrigeration Technician has graduated from an accredited HVAC training program and has 5 years of verifiable HVAC industry experience. • Previous maintenance, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or mechanical experience is preferred. • Ability to troubleshoot and repair residential HVAC equipment in an efficient and professional manner. • Commitment to safety in the use of all hand and power tools and must have solid interpersonal and customer service skills. • Safety and customer service oriented. • Able and willing to be trained on the proper and safe operation of equipment as needed (e.g., Boom Lift). • Fluent English-speaking and writing skills are required. • Strong multi-tasking capabilities. • Able to work irregular and extended hours, including an on-call schedule. • Driving Requirements • Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license. • Must have positive points on state driving record. • Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted. • Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years. • All driving records are run as part of our pre-employment process and reviewed at the discretion of the Safety Team. • Physical Requirements • Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted. • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
