Lead Journeyman Electrician

Overview We are seeking a full time, 8-hour per day Lead Journeyman Electrician position District Wide starting August 1, 2025. The purpose of this position is to perform skilled installation, maintenance, alteration, repair, or replacement of line and low voltage electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in District buildings and/or properties. This position is required to hold an Oregon General Supervising Electrical License and possess the necessary knowledge, skill and ability to effectively perform skilled assignments allowed by the license. Additionally, this position is responsible for applying, obtaining and completing permits with authorities having jurisdiction. The position has emphasis on the design and programing of electrical and low voltage systems. The individual in this position may also be assigned to oversee the work of district electrical staff and permits as covered under the General Supervising Electrician license. Starting Salary: $32.47-$41.08, depending on previous experience Duties • Perform complex technical work, on a general supervising electrician level, in the design, installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and related electro-mechanical systems, in accordance with applicable electrical industry codes. • Plan, oversee, and participate in the maintenance, repair, installation, programming and operation of the district’s access control, fire alarm, HVAC controls, lighting controls, photovoltaic, security, shades, water reclamation and other low voltage systems. • Apply for and obtain permits and follow-through completion, to perform electrical work in district buildings; oversees work as mandated by state law. • Research and recommend equipment and supply purchases. • Coordinate and oversee the work of other Journeyman Electrician and or electrical apprentices. • Provide quality control and technical guidance to electricians and other District staff. • Inspect progress and quality of contracted work. • Maintains regular and prompt attendance. Requirements • Valid Oregon General Supervising Electrical License or equivalent certification. • Possession of valid Oregon driver's license • Read and understand any applicable article and section of the National Electrical Code, the Oregon Electrical Specialty Code and the Oregon Administrative Rules chapter 918. Must have the ability to review and provide directions to electricians on code related inquiries. • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical theory and methods of electrical installation. • Ability to read drawings and electrical circuitry schematic diagrams. • Ability to use tools and equipment as required in the completion of work. • Knowledge and understanding of precision test equipment and ability to diagnose problems and check completed work. • Ability to perform mathematical calculations. • Ability to communicate with district staff to determine electrical system needs. • Ability to prioritize work assignments according to severity of problem. • Extensive knowledge of various manufacturers and available products for electrical systems. • Extensive knowledge of low voltage wiring systems, layout, design, programming and techniques. • Ability to communicate and work effectively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholder populations. • Must be skilled in written and oral communication. • Ability to operate and perform work using aerial lift equipment. • Near-visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision and color vision as required to make electrical connections, solder and splice electrical wiring. Position Purpose: Maintain high levels of production by minimizing downtime by providing both predictive and preventive maintenance on all equipment. Brings forth issues and resolves them through formal action planning. Works closely with all members of the Maintenance, Production, & Management Teams. Position Functions: Level One Essential Functions* These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. Must have current State of Oregon Journeyman Electrician card. Must be familiar with the mill electrical system. (MCC’s, disconnects, machines, and conveying systems). Blue print reading. Installations by code. Able to install conduit level, straight, according to code or better depending on application. Able to troubleshoot and repair 120 vac to 480 vac control power. Able to troubleshoot and repair low voltage AC and DC. Troubleshoot power supplies of all types. Etc low voltage, multi voltage, and constant voltage. Make prints of installations complete Troubleshoot 3-phase power, MCC’s, motors, relay logic and aux contacts. Level Two Essential Functions* These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. In addition to all elements of level 1, the following are required: Good understanding of machine center control / electrical systems. Allen Bradley PLC program schools. Know how to use timers, counters, basic ladder logic, and force functions. Know how to troubleshoot PLC program logic. Troubleshoot PLC and its components, replace processors and modules. Basic understanding of AC frequency drives and soft starters. Understand plant optimizer systems; how to restart systems and calibrate scanner systems. Understand plant production and downtime reports. Know how to reset and restart computer system. Understand HMI systems. Know how to reset and restart computer system. Understand plant PanelView and MessageView systems. Understand Plant PLC network. PLC programming / Frequency drive classes once per year. Level Three Essential Functions* These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. Essential Functions: In addition to all elements of level 1 and level 2 Complete understanding of machine center control / electrical systems. Understand plant optimizer systems on how to change configuration files and how to back up systems. Understand plant production and downtime report system. Skills: Must have excellent hand eye coordination. Use vision/hearing continuously. Reading and speech required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, machine specific lockout procedures, monthly safety training, etc. Worker generally works alone with little supervision. Operators must be self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each task. Ability to prioritize, organize and make necessary decisions. Safety: (1) Do only maintenance you are trained to do and keep all body parts out of machinery. (2) Always use our 14 step lockout/tagout procedure before doing any maintenance, clearing jams, or getting into machinery for any reason; be aware of stored energy. (3) Always use proper body mechanics (ex: don’t over reach, get help as needed to push loads out). (4) Use proper PPE (gloves, eye protection, hearing protection). (5) Be aware of and communicate with your co-worker at all times (ex: forklift driver). (6) Will be required to read and write during safety training.
