Trades Specialist - Electrician

Description Duties Description As a trades specialist (electrician) you would perform journey level electrician work and frequently previse others in the repair, maintenance, and instillation of electrical systems and equipment. The electrician trade, for reasons of safety, requires care and precision in its performance following applicable electric code regulations. A trades specialist (electrician) is responsible for all electrical work including the planning and laying out of work and the diagnosis of trouble in electrical system's or equipment in an assigns area, on an assigned project or for an entire facility. All positions are in the non-competitive jurisdictional class. A trades specialist (electrician) frequently supervises others in this work including semiskilled and relatively unskilled workers. In an agency such as the Departments of Corrections and Community Supervision where inmates perform some electrical repair or installation tasks, a trade specialist (electrician) may be responsible. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Four years of full time experience in the electrical trade under a skilled trades person which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completing of technical courses in the electrical trade at a school, institute or branch of the armed services; or a successful completion of the two-year trades specialist (electrician) traineeship or a two year electrician training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program such as NYS Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship and Certificate Program. • Successful completion of the traineeship and the training program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work. Course work must be completed with an average of "C" or better. Additionally, successful completion of the traineeship also includes 4,000 hours of on-the-job training. Electrical Engineer 1

The Position The Electrical Engineer 1 is a member of the engineering department. This position will report directly to the Senior Electrical Engineering Manager. This position requires experience in AutoCAD or similar Electrical CAD programs in addition to experience with commissioning (Debug) of equipment. Job Description Primary Responsibilities • Design new products or re-design existing products without supervision for schematics, control cabinets, layouts, etc. Some software skills with PLCs are a plus. • Utilize the most current design techniques and tools • Designs and BOM’s must be accurate • Design projects must be done in a timely manner • Designs must be in compliance with all safety requirements • Design within the specifications for the product being mindful of cost, manufacturability, reliability and service requirements • Perform commissioning and debug of products • Able to energize machine safely and competently, ready for “wet test” and SAT • Assure product is “as designed” • Review/approve all applicable requests for change • Assure proper documentation has been recorded • Assure product meets specifications • Maintain a working knowledge of machine process and operation • Work in a team environment • Lead team meetings, design reviews, machine reviews, kick-off meetings • Interact with other departments, including Manufacturing, TSS, Sales and Purchasing • Contribute to Risk Assessment sessions. Job Requirements Education • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or 10 years as technician / designer. Skills & Relevant Work Experience • Knowledgeable in PLC’s, AC and DC drives, motion controls and operator interface units. • Must be able to create all documentation required for assembly. • Computer skills must be excellent. • AutoCAD/Solid Works Electrical/Draft Sight Travel Requirements: Up to 10% EOE M/F/D/V

Electrical Programming Engineer 1

The Position This position is a member of the Engineering Department. The Electrical Programming Engineer 1 will report directly to the Senior Controls Engineering Manager. Job Description Primary Responsibilities • Design software experience: Experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC/HMI systems and programming desired. Experience with robotics programing a plus. • Self-starter who is well-organized, detail-oriented, creative and possesses excellent problem-solving skills. • Advanced designs of new products or re-design product software. Understanding of development of existing products for schematics, control cabinets, layouts, etc. • Utilize leading edge software and tools. • Design projects must be done in a timely manner. • Designs must follow all safety requirements. • Ability to develop concepts and solutions meeting all customer requirements and to estimate the cost of implementation of those solutions. • Perform commissioning and debug of products. • Able to energize machine safely and competently, ready for wet test and SAT. • Assure product is “as designed”. • Review/approve all applicable requests for change. • Assure proper documentation has been recorded. • Assure product meets specifications. • Maintain a working knowledge of machine process and operation. • Proficiency with written and oral communication and giving presentations. Need to effectively present technical documents with an ability to explain technical concepts with depth that is tailored to expected audience. • Strong time management skills. Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time. • Ability to develop strong professional relationships with vendors and customers across a wide spectrum of industry. • Work in a team environment. • Learn to mentor from other engineers. • Ability to lead a design team on a large project including lead team meetings, design reviews, machine reviews, kick-off meetings. • Interact with other departments, including Manufacturing, TSS, Sales and Purchasing Job Requirements Education • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional software development environment. Skills & Relevant Work Experience • Knowledge of Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC/HMI systems Experience with AC/DC drives a plus • Experience with SolidWorks electrical a plus • Experience with AutoCAD a plus.
