Electrician - 2nd Shift

• *Position Summary** • *Position:** Electrician - 2nd Shift • *Location:** Seneca Falls, NY • *Summary**: Installation and servicing of all electrical equipment throughout the plant not contracted to outside concerns. Balance live loads, wire complex circuits, diagnose trouble and make necessary repairs to simple as well as complex equipment. Supervise other electricians and helpers as assigned. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned. • *Essential Responsibilities** • *Responsibilities:** - Diagnose, install, maintain and repair all facility and operating electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using hand tools and testing instruments. - Inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, communication and power circuits. - Isolate defects in wiring, motors, switches and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, volt meter, testing lamp, etc. - Replace faulty switches, sockets and other elements of electrical systems. - Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures. - Mount motors, motor starters, transformers, VFD's and lighting fixtures in to position and complete circuits according to diagram or verbal specifications. - Build electrical panels, size wire, run conduit and bend pipe as necessary. - Communication with OEM companies and electrical suppliers to determine machine specifications and resolve problems. - Occasionally leads other maintenance personnel as appropriate. - Assist other trades as required. - Respond to and assist during plant emergencies. - Keep work areas neat, clean and orderly. - May be required to operate industrial trucks (fork trucks, lift trucks, etc.) - May train new employees. - Follow relevant work instructions and/or SOP. • *Position Requirements** • *Education Required:** - Equivalent to high school plus 2-3 years of apprenticeship or trade training. - 2 year technical degree or equivalent experience preferred. • *Experience Required:** - Journeyman status in a recognized electrical union preferred (i.e. IBEW) - Working knowledge of most recent NEC 70 code. - Experience/safety training for high voltage applications preferred. - 5 plus years of hands-on experience in industrial electrical installations, trouble-shooting and maintenance. - Demonstrated proficiency with electrical measuring instruments.
