Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Demonstrated practical technical competencies at implementing moderately complex assignments involving protective relaying, communication, computer, networks, PLC, control, metering, and plant security equipment. • Demonstrated ability to define moderately complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions by applying accepted technical and business standards. • Ability to apply diverse technical principles and practices, with the understanding of the NYPA’s policies, operations and objectives, to engineering deliverables. • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, regulations. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, Self-starter, who can work independently. • Collaborative and team-oriented with ability to build relationships with vendors and stakeholders. • Ability to coordinate the technical and commercial aspects of projects. • Ability to perform engineering calculations, and complete specifications, scopes of work, reports, and interdisciplinary design packages. • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications. • Working experience with a Asset Management / MPR software such as Maximo preferred. • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects. • Ability to travel. Education, Experience and Certifications • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), or equivalent (BSEET), from an accredited college or university. • Minimum of eight (8) years of work-related experience preferred. • New York State Engineer in Training certification preferred. Physical Requirements • Ability to access all areas of the plant and conduct physical evaluations of grounds and equipment including ability to climb and work at high elevations. • Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties. • Extended working hours with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions.
