Position: Commercial / Industrial Electricians Overview Newsome Electrical Construction, LLC is seeking an Industrial/Commercial Electrician with at least 10 years of experience in industrial/commercial electrical construction for positions in the Augusta, Athens and eastern Atlanta markets. These are hands-on roles that require expertise in startup, troubleshooting, fire alarm systems, and instrumentation work. $5,000 SIGN-ON BONUS FOR JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIANS! Responsibilities • Install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial and commercial electrical systems, including wiring, panels, and control systems. • Perform startup and commissioning tasks, including instrumentation and electrical measurements. • Conduct system testing to ensure functionality and compliance with specifications. • Install and maintain fire alarm systems and other building wiring systems. • Troubleshoot electrical issues to identify root causes and implement solutions. • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings. • Operate tools and equipment such as multimeters, power tools, and conduit benders. • Lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 75 lbs. • Adhere to company and industry safety standards, ensuring jobsite compliance at all times. Qualifications • At least 10 years of experience working in a commercial/industrial electrical construction is required. • Strong understanding of industrial and commercial electrical systems, horizontal construction, fire alarms, and commissioning processes. • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed. • Willing to take a drug test and pass a background check. • Eligible to work in the United States. • Must have reliable transportation. • Driver's license and willingness to allow an MVR check. • Owns Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and basic electrical hand tools. If you have experience performing planning studies for electric utilities or are currently involved with detailed study of renewable power or heavy industrial systems, we want to hear from you. The position responsibilities include performing a variety of electrical studies that may include steady state load flow, short circuit, transient analysis, harmonics, insulation coordination, and dynamic system response studies. We use tools such as PSS/e, PSLF, ASPEN Oneliner, PSS Cape, PSCAD, and EMTP-RV. Experience in these tools is not required; related experience with tools such as TARA, ETAP, SKM, Power World, Easy Power is considered applicable. Many of the studies will be related to large-scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar, energy storage). Our team supports project development from conceptualization through design, equipment selection, and post-commissioning support. We assist with apparatus ratings and specifications for equipment like transformers, circuit breakers, switches, cables, switch gear, inverters, wind turbines, and power systems. We also serve utility and industrial clients with studies involving transmission level load additions, long-term planning, interconnections, black start analysis, voltage unbalance, line transposition, breaker TRV assessments, and insulation coordination. We have a separate distribution planning group as well. Minimum Requirements: • BSEE (MSEE and PhD are desirable) • At least 1 year of experience performing any one of the following studies: load flow, short circuit, transient stability/dynamic system response, HV/LV ride-through, TOV, TRV, insulation coordination, harmonics, interconnection studies. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) • Five (5) years or more of electrical or instrument and control troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment • Experience troubleshooting industrial controls PLCs, motor controls, control valves, electrical distribution, Servo Controlled Systems, and both DC and AC motors ranging in voltages from 24 VDC to 480 VDC • Expert level experience reading and following electrical and mechanical schematics/ blueprints • Knowledge of electrical and other hazards and precautions including safety procedures, NFPA 70 arc flash electrical safety, and OSHA regulations • Experience installing, calibrating, monitoring, modifying, programming, and maintaining HMI and DCS control instrumentation.
