Electrical Machine Builder

Job Description Position: Electrical Machine Builder-3 Location: Pella SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Electrical Machine Builder will be required to perform multiple duties ranging from a general machinist/electrician to a machine designer. The team member must have a high mechanical aptitude with good hands-on ability. The team member must also understand all phases of the machine building process. PELLA CORPORATION REQUIREMENTS: • Pass drug screen • Pass pre-work ability screen • Pass pre-work vision screen • High school diploma or equivalency • Pass pre-employment tests PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS: All base level requirements must be met within two years upon position acceptance. To reach a progression level you must demonstrate technical skills, leadership skills and pass classes / certifications as identified by the progression review committee. ENVIRONMENT: • Noise level requires hearing protection in designated areas • Season high temperatures and humidity • Work in a team environment with the ability to communicate in a concise, polite and respectful manner ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Comply with safety, quality, and production requirements and procedures • Regular/dependable attendance required • Flexibility of work hours including overtime • Able to work with and around moving equipment/machines • Excellent working knowledge of tools and tool room equipment, mechanical drives, electrical/hydraulic systems, and programmable controllers • Provide support for Continuous Improvement activities • Wire and program systems for equipment/machines • Must maintain a PIV license ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ability to rotate to other positions as needed • Coordinate and schedule work of teams to meet productivity, time, and cost requirements • Lead Project Teams • Participate in Kaizen events and other activities as assigned • Other duties may be assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Manufacturing experience is preferred • Previous electrical machine building experience preferred SKILLS AND TALENTS: (*skills are required prior to entry into the position) • Able to work with minimal supervision* • Accuracy and attention to detail* • Proficient mechanical and math aptitude* • Flexibility to travel* • Excellent written and oral communication • Excellent computer knowledge • Read and interpret blueprints • Decision making/problem solving skills • Time management • Ability to work with internal and external customers • Presentation/training • Programming PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Lift up to 100 lbs. at waist level and up to 70 lbs. at shoulder level up to an occasional basis when moving products • Push or pull with up to 100 lbs. of force up to an occasional basis when moving products • Generate up to 90 lbs. of grip strength up to an occasional basis with each hand while handling products • Generate up to 15 lbs. of pinch strength up to an occasional basis with each hand while handling products • Display average coordination with both hands up to a continuous basis while performing job tasks • Perform elevated work up to an occasional basis when handling products • Stoop, kneel or squat up to an occasional basis when handling products • Reach forward and to the side up to a frequent basis when handling products • Stand up to a continuous basis and walk up to a frequent basis during the course of each shift • Able to perform repetitive tasks up to 12 hours per day

Central College seeks two dynamic faculty members with strong teaching skills to engage with undergraduate students pursuing an ABET-accredited B.S. degree in engineering. The successful tenure-line candidate will have a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a related area). One of the positions requires electrical and controls experience; the other position is predominantly mechanical. Also desired is industrial work experience including engineering design; preference will be given to licensed Professional Engineers (P.E.). Lecturer candidates, with an appropriate Master's or Ph.D. degree, may also be considered. Undergraduate courses related to control systems, signals and systems, theory of machines, statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer, in addition to other standard undergraduate engineering courses at introductory and advanced levels (including laboratories), are key components of Central's engineering curriculum.
